I bought a dragon fruit at least 1 meter high that i planted it in early April, is it possible to fruit this summer?(my mom told me it is waste of money because it will not fruit, i need to prove her wrong ASAP 😂) +Is it true that cuting the edge of the leaf/branch helps to produce fruits?(I'm in north Africa my plant get at least 6 hours sunlight)
@sackboymahalo
@sackboymahalo 4 ай бұрын
😆😆😆 Hello. There is a chance it will fruit this summer. Dragon fruit I believe needs more than 6 hours of sunlight to produce flowers. I hope you get the fertile variety (does not require cross pollination to produce fruit). I suggest to add steer manure compost to your plant as well as 14-14-14 (1 tablespoon per month). No need to cut the tip off, it will produce flowers when the branch matures. Thank you again for your comment and thank you for watching. 👍😊👍 Cheers

I also here in Florida started unknown yellow varietie from seed. It has grown up post and brranched out. It is in the ground onba raised bed. It's about year old. Full sun all-day. No diseases or pests. I've given blooming fertilizer already. Any thoughts on whether it is self fertile, should I hand pollinate just to try? How deep would you estimate the roots are? By the way are u originally from Hawaii? I spent years on big island.
@sackboymahalo
@sackboymahalo 9 ай бұрын
Aloooha. I've lived in Oahu kaneohe for 3 years. If the seed you planted came from a fruit that has thorns on the skin then they are self fertile. If the seed came from a fruit that has no thorns then it will need cross pollination, and there is a big chance that it will not bear a yellow fruit. Mahalo for your comment and mahalo for watching. 👍😊👍 Cheers
