Very interesting headphones , how does the soundstage / holography compare to hifiman Arya or Ananda ?

It’s been a hot minute since I listened to any Hifiman headphones… but, I think the Dahlia has very good stage… width and height as well as depth is great… I think Nick developing these while playing games helped a lot with that aspect of his headphones tuning.

How do you feel these compare to the Bokeh? I know they will be better, but in what areas? Do you feel like they can be used portable? portable is a big need for me. Would it get the most out of it with a Mojo 2? Thank you for your reivews
@BreathOfDust3 күн бұрын
I don’t have either so this is just conspiracy but they’re probably like an upgraded bokeh
@TylersEclectic3 күн бұрын
I think these (Atrium closed) can be used portable… I use my iFi Gryphon with them all the time and enjoy that combo, so the Atrium Closed should work with the Mojo2 as well. For comparison to the Bokeh closed, I’d say the Atrium Closed is technically the better headphones, but shares a lot similarities regarding enjoyment of listening to music with either. Bokeh is an amazing bit of kit and the only reason to go up from it is if you are chasing the audiophile dragon in the pursuit of your “perfect” sound/headphone.
@jonnyshaw853 күн бұрын
@@TylersEclectic In your honest opinion am I going to want to buy the Mojo 2 for the Bokeh anyway? Or can the Bokeh run purely through an iPhone dongle. I guess if I need the Mojo 2 anyway, the AC might be worth it….then invest in a proper desktop amp later on. Decisions! 😅
@TylersEclectic3 күн бұрын
@ just tried the Bokeh with the Meze Dongle DAC and it works… and is enjoyable… but it’s definitely not getting the Bokeh to full potential. I had the volume maxed out as well… I think depending on the dongle DAC/amp will depend on how good it performs… something like a Qudelix, or a Fiio ka13 type DAC amp would perform better than a traditional iPhone or cable dongle DAC :) Hope that helps

@@TylersEclectic thank you for your help Tyler! One last question and thanks in advance. How does the bass compare on both? I’ve heard the Bokeh has less sub bass and more mid. Does the Bokeh still extend into the sub? And the AC…It has sub bass, but are the mid bass regions as strong as the Bokeh. Is it just Overall better in this region? Do both react well to EQ? Sorry for asking 500 questions so far 😂😅

If I connect some iem through the 4.4 output there will be distortion, something like a studio4 with Impedance: 12Ω at 1 kHz. Sensitivity: 123dB/Vrms at 1kHz the problem is that I have heard that the balanced output sounds better than the single?
@TylersEclectic3 күн бұрын

Ha! Good spot... I swapped out my normal cable for this video specifically and must have crossed my wires doing so =) I just spent a couple songs listening and going back and forth with swapping right and left with this cable specifically... and sound signature is the same and my above statements in the video stay the same... the only difference is that sounds that are coming from the left would be coming from the right if properly seated. So, basically everything is the same... but mirrored, if I was playing games I would have noticed immediately lol. I stand by my assessment of the Bokeh. My opinions of gear is derived from weeks of listening prior to making a video, so what you see in the video is an accumulation of that experience prior to hitting record... then me jabbering on about it off the top of my head =) as I do not script my videos. Classic mistake ha... good catch =)

Great review. Sounds like you’re a basshead. I am too. I can’t live without features like XBass or a schiit Loki to crank up the low end. Your description of the atrium closed shaking on your head is exactly the kind of feedback I’m always seeking, but rarely am getting. I’m always wanting to know which headphones have the best bass potential for quality and quantity, but not necessarily just with their stock tuning. If you can continue including details like this in your vids, I’m sure it’ll be very valuable for a lot of people like myself. All that being said, sounds like the atrium closed delivers the best low end experience with XBass enabled? Or did you test anything better?
@TylersEclectic16 күн бұрын
I’m definitely more of a bass head type… I think that there are better dedicated bass head headphones over the Atriums… but, I found the balance of bass and the other regions to be a nice compliment to each other. The Verites are fun bass headphones and have crazy speed for keeping up with faster tracks… a lot of the ZMFs take to bass boost well. But if you want bass cannons I’d look at Fostex 900s or what have you.. :) Thank you for chatting and the kind encouragement
@tones868916 күн бұрын
@ that’s awesome, thanks for the feedback! I was a long time user of emu teaks and Fostex th-x00. Have since upgraded to a kennerton gjallahorn gh50jm and have been very happy with it on all fronts, but there’s still some room for improvement. Im still always on the hunt for an “endgame” basshead can in that TOTL class, but it’s just so hard to get details on their bass potential since most people dropping $2-3k+ on a headphone aren’t cranking up 10-20 dB of low end boost haha. And if they are, they aren’t talking about it. Any ways, I enjoy your content, keep up the good work!

@TylersEclectic16 күн бұрын
Just make sure you use quality made cables? I’m not an electrical engineer lol I always have to look up if Single ended to XLR is ok… which generally it is in this case … just do some research on it :) I believe it usually is a problem when going balanced to single ended… and has more to do with how the cables are wired for ground? But don’t quote me as I’m not “positive” (sorry bad electrical joke ha)
@joewatkins552416 күн бұрын
@ I saw on some forum somewhere that you can add a 20 ohm resistor to your RCA to XLR cords it turns the cables impedance to be balanced on the topping, also I think your right just the volume will be lowered but with this being a tube hybrid amp and me going to be using the Arya Stealth I shouldn’t have any issues just turning the volume up some more
@TylersEclectic16 күн бұрын
@ yeah… I think the issue is usually with grounds in the connection shorting and that causes amps or headphones to pop… or if power passes through too much and melts the driver coils? Once again I have very little appropriate knowledge on that stuff and ask my friends that are much more experienced or trained I those areas for advice :) or I research the hell out of it until I’m confident I’ll only possibly mess up lol

It took my decent sounding Focal Azurys to the next level - I was actually a bit shocked how much of a difference it made. Still haven't figured out their new EQ app yet. I replied to your comment on Joshua Valour's Boken vid about just this. Although I'm tempted by the Bokeh, I'd rather wait for what I really want.
