The opportunities now are much greater than for prev generations. While it's true that there are lots who don't have traction, there are also lots who've gotten traction. Take for example the number of folk making tons from social media, not only from ads, but from promotions and sales. Population growth is more than job vacancies, so it'll be impossible for everyone to be employed. Entrepreneurship is the only way forward for the unemployed. The greatest benefit for self-employment is the freedom that it provides. These new generations don't have to work at a job that is not fulfilling if they can find alternatives. Success doesn't always come with the first try, but persistence and learning from failure will lead to success. I'm one of those who quit less than one month in the job after college. Now happily self-employed in tech with freedom to work at anytime or from anywhere - provided that there's internet.

The youth in East Africa are known for their strong work ethic and "hustle culture," where they prioritize working hard and taking on multiple jobs or business ventures to achieve their goals especially in Uganda and Kenya. This entrepreneurial spirit is a key factor in the region's economic growth and development. For example, the recently signed AfCTCA (African Continental Free Trade Area) agreement aims to create a single market for goods and services across Africa, presenting a significant opportunity for East African youth to expand their businesses and reach new markets. By eliminating trade barriers and increasing regional integration, the agreement can help young entrepreneurs access new customers, suppliers, and investment opportunities. However, to fully benefit from the AfCTCA, East African youth will need to continue to embrace the hustle culture and work hard to develop innovative products and services that can compete in the regional market. With the right support and resources, East African youth have the potential to become major players in the regional and global economy!!

Great insight! A majority of African youth are facing various challenges, including unemployment, poverty, and lack of access to quality education, which has contributed to the growth of the hustle culture. Many young Africans have had to create their own opportunities by starting small businesses or working multiple jobs to make ends meet. The hustle culture has brought about a sense of determination and innovation among African youth. They have become more creative in finding ways to make money, and many have succeeded in turning their side hustles into successful businesses. The hustle culture has also encouraged young Africans to be more proactive in their personal and professional lives, taking charge of their own destinies and creating opportunities for themselves. However, the hustle culture has also been criticized for promoting a culture of overwork and burnout. Some argue that the emphasis on always hustling and working hard can lead to a lack of work-life balance, which can ultimately have negative consequences on one's mental and physical health. But overall, the hustle culture has become an important aspect of African youth culture, promoting innovation, resilience, and a can-do attitude. However, it's important to balance hard work with self-care and to recognize the importance of taking breaks and prioritizing one's well-being.
