@JoeAlisando
@JoeAlisando 16 күн бұрын
Hi, thank you for the question. The first wash is not going to produce water. It fills your filters with water as they come pretty much empty. Make sure to let the first wash run all the way through even if there is no water coming out. It may seem like the machine stopped but let it keep going. Once the first wash is complete, discard the water from the reservoir and add fresh water. The second wash should have water coming out. See the video at 9:50 for an example of the first second and third washes.

The order of updating bios vs drivers does not matter. For a new build, I update the bios if needed, then install windows and then install the drivers. The default window drivers can also work so the driver updates from msi are optional. You can download the drivers from the msi website one at a time and install as needed.

I am confused on how the power off/standby should work for this monitor. It's pretty random. Sometimes, when I power off the PC or put it to sleep, the monitor powers off with the standby led solid red on its own and the LED ring turns off. Good. Sometimes it does not and stays on so I press and keep holding the menu button to switch it off. But.... it doesn't always work and instead the menu appears. Then the second time holding down the menu button works. Sometimes, when powering off the PC or putting it to sleep, the monitor standby led starts blinking red instead. What does that mean? The power off button from the menu seems to do nothing? It never powers off because the standby led is not turned on and if I press the menu button, it just shows the menu again and not like it's powering on again displaying the Samsung and Odyssey logos. Maybe I am misunderstanding all of this or is it Samsung shenanigans? 😄
@JoeAlisando
@JoeAlisando Ай бұрын
Thank you for the questions. See below for a list of answers to each question. 1. The display always powers off correctly for me, and the red LED light turns on when the display is powered off. Also, in regard to the power off button from the menu, for me it always turns off the display after which the red LED light turns on automatically. 2. The blinking red LED means the monitor is still on but there is no source signal. For example, when you turn off the PC the source signal goes away so the display turns black with the red light blinking. If you were to turn your PC back on, the signal returns and the monitor will automatically receive the signal without you needing to press the physical power button to turn it on. 3. Not sure if it will help but I also have the automatic turn off display option selected under Menu -> System -> Off Timer Plus -> Off Timer -> On. I have it set so the display turns off in 1 hour if it does not receive a signal.

@@JoeAlisando Same version. Yesterday, coincidentally, for the first time, the monitor refused to switch off. Held down the menu button like 4 times and each time the menu kept coming up. Had to unplug the power cord. First time I have encountered a monitor that is such a hassle to power off. Maybe it is becoming sentient. 😄 There is a newer firmware version; 1006 but I read users having problems with intermittent black screens occuring on that version. Although there is a way to downgrade the firmware by renaming the firmware file with a higher number tricking the monitor that it is installing a newer version. So there's that piece of mind if I feel like updating.

@JoeAlisando 5 ай бұрын
No worries. You do not need windows to update your BIOS. In fact, I would recommend updating the BIOS before installing windows. To do this, first download the BIOS and install it on a USB drive using a different computer (not your new build) as described in the video. Second, turn on your newly built PC and enter the BIOS (note: windows is not needed to enter the BIOS). Third, check that the CPU temperatures are reasonable and are not rising over time. Fourth, check that all the RAM sticks you installed are showing up. Fifth, make sure all your storage devices are showing up. Sixth, if everything looks good, install the BIOS as described in the video. When the BIOS installation starts, it is very important not to turn off the PC even if you get a black screen. Be patient and wait until the BIOS screen shows up again. If the BIOS version hasn’t changed keep waiting as it may need to restart several times to install the BIOS. Once you see the new BIOS version show up, you are done. I hope this helps.

That is a good question. I guess it depends if you want to upgrade the system in the future. For example, I wanted to get a power supply with a larger wattage rating in case I needed it for future system upgrades. You are correct that less power can still work for the current build. Also, there are online calculators that can help you decide on the power requirements for your PSU.

If you were to install a second SSD where would you put it?

Hi hanzberger8751, thank you for the question. I would first populate the M.2 slots that are connected directly to the CPU. If you go to the manufacturers website and look at the specifications for the motherboard, it will tell you which slots are connected to the CPU directly. For the Z790 ACE MAX those two slots are M.2_1 and M.2_4. Also if you are getting a gen5 M.2, install it in slot M.2_4, and put your operating system on that one since it will be faster. I will go over the topic in a separate video.

In my view, the radiator has been incorrectly installed, causing air to gather at the top and putting strain on the pump.

Thank you for the comment. This is a topic of a lot of debate. My understanding is that you do not want to have air trapped in the pump. It is ok to have air trapped in the radiator. I will make a separate video to go over this topic.
