My home in Pittsburgh had insulated doors. The temp stayed at 45 if it was 0 out. Moved to Erie Pa last year. The garage door is not insulated and the temp is 24 in the garage. Outside temp 6. Garage door is as thin as a beer can. Moisture drips from the panels and freezes on the floor.

I insulated a large pole barn. I used the standard white 1 inch panels for both garage doors and the walls which worked perfectly fine and made a dramatic difference overall. What was a huge difference was using these reflective backed panels for the ceiling. These panels amplified the ceiling lights making the work space much brighter and reduced my need for task lighting or spot lighting. We nailed everything into studs and covered seems with the AC foil tape.

The problem with adding insulation is you change the weight of the door which calls for stronger springs. That's why they sell insulated doors at different ratings and they match the springs accordingly

On a 16x7 door it’s under 8lbs of added weight. I have had no issues in my last home or this one now after a year on 20 year old door and springs.

My garage door is just flat…nowhere to tuck in anything. And what is that gadget you have on that can of foam? A real novice aiming to learn. I overwinter plants in the garage so a little warmer would help.
@DeanFurnitureArtist
@DeanFurnitureArtist 5 күн бұрын
If the rear of the door is flat you more then likely already have a factory insulated door. Google insulated garage doors and see if those look like yours. The sprayer I use is normally on the shelves right next to the replacement spray foam cans.

Awesome that you're still answering. I have a question: I have a Wagner Control 150 and I tried to paint furniture with it and the whole thing became a mess. So I looked into buying a smaller tip like a finefinish 208, but then I needed to buy also a new guard which it became almost the price of this FLEXIO in your video. Do you think it's more worth it to buy a FLEXIO given that it's a lesser mess to clean if you are painting small furniture? Or buy the guard and tip for my bigger machine?
@DeanFurnitureArtist
@DeanFurnitureArtist 7 күн бұрын
I have an airless GRACO, which is pretty much the same as the Wagner 150. I only use it for massive projects like painting walls or houses. It’s definitely a lot more work to set up and clean compared to the paint gun I use for furniture.

Great video!! I'm wondering if you know how to fix this scenario... Chest of drawers with drawers pushed in... on 1 drawer both sides of the drawer front simultaneously gap away from the cabinet while the center of the drawer front (top and bottom) sits flush with the cabinet. The drawer slide mechanism I have is a wooden rail on the bottom of the cabinet and a plastic slider piece on the bottom of the drawer near the rear (no rail on the bottom of the drawer). Any idea how to adjust to make the drawer front sit flush? Sorry, I don't know how to attach a picture.

It come with two sprayers. A small one like you see here and a big one for doing walls and fence but honestly for exterior I love my Grace. I painted my whole shop minus the trim in under 20 mins but it’s a bit on the pricey side. www.amazon.com/dp/B004Z2090U/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_2V1ZWT5640N4X5CCE806?linkCode=ml2&tag=bustedtobuffe-20

@DeanFurnitureArtist 22 күн бұрын
XPS is only sold in 1/2 and 2” here. The 2” is 7.5 lbs for a 4x8 which is the about the weight of all 4 of the panels on this door. So you would definitely have to up grade springs adding 30lbs over 8lbs.

Thank you so much. This is my third attempt at refinishing my dining room table. I just stained it and it's drying. My problem is I am nervous to use a top coat, even though I need one. I have used polyurethane, and it all streaked with paintbrush marks. Second attempt, sanded it down again and used shellac. Lots of paint brush marks. What am I doing wrong? Thank you.
@DeanFurnitureArtist

Oil base poly is self leveling. Could be laying it on to thin which would make it dry faster or could be temps as well. Doing a large flat surface like a table top is very difficult. Even with my experience I avoid tables like the plague. lol.
