I do slightly agree I must admit. Yep, that fight basically introduced me to Ilia, pretty sure it was the first fight of his I saw. I was immediately intrigued.

Hard to argue with the results from their matches. But I do wonder, I feel like Craig and Nicky Rod would be the ones who could pull it off.

I think best way Ilia could do it, would be to have a streak of something like Volk, (maybe Volk rematch), Max, then he fights winner of a title eliminator between Movsar vs Ortega. Aljamain might beat Kattar and then win a top 5, fight, that would be another good fight for Ilia to potentially take on. I think Lightweight needs a break from Featherweight fighters, at least for a year or so.
