The s20 is grittier and brighter. The s700 is more darker but IMO produces a more pleasant sound. What is your personal opinion on the difference between 12, and 16 bit audio? Do you feel 12 bit is inherently different? More compressed sounding, or perhaps because of needing to sample louder people are hitting the converters louder?
@gwEmbassy7 күн бұрын
I don’t think 12 bit on its own makes a difference. But I think it does indicate a piece of gear was made in a certain era when the D2As were designed in a certain way which gave colour and punch to the sound.

I started out on an Amiga 500. As you know 4 part multi/poly and just a stereo out. But even that was stunted as two channels were hard wired to each channel. I see my SP as an Amiga on steroids. 12 bit, 8 part multi, 8 separate outs. How I wish the Amiga had 4 outs. Being able to process externally really floats my boat.
@gwEmbassyАй бұрын
@MLochMusic those separate outputs are key!

I got a x7000 for free 2 years ago. With defective drive. I put it on the bench yesterday to have a look. It seemed to me that somebody had already tried to work on it since the drive had a screw missing and it looked like the belt had been replaced. Could be that they have tried to change the motor timing too, who knows.
@gwEmbassy2 ай бұрын
congrats on the free X7000. will you be replacing the drive with a Gotek?
@Johnsormani2 ай бұрын
@@gwEmbassy i still have spare gotek but I have many synths that could use one. Until now I’ve only installed one on my Mirage sampler. The library for the s612/700 is rather small so I haven’t decided yet. I’ll try first to get the quickdisk drive working anyway ( I like a challenge)

Surprised that in this unbelievable video series you did not use my favourite a simple Jordan Fuzz. Of course i used a clone. Needs some modifications, no diodes or red LEDs, voltage starve, Bigger Input Capacitor (most important !), reverse switch for one transistor gets into weird territorry. My absolute favourite, also for 808.

FS-1, original up-grade for Stratocaster bridge, still better than the competion. We are being slowly "CONvinced" to simply junk what we have already and and purchase a ready to install "Set" or ready made assembly just to get a purpose made 50s/60s/70s tone. The basic problem Mr Di-Marzio addressed was the need to beef up the weedy bridge pickup so you don't get a noticable volume drop when switching from one pickup to another. The Fender TBX tone control was a good idea too but the ability to solo clean just by flicking your 3/5 way switch is what we want, no pedals or gizmos or routing for wider puckups. The Winner.
@gwEmbassy2 ай бұрын
