Totally agree 99% but its not essential to use one single brand of oil, not saying deliberately change just for the sake of it, but varying from time to time can introduce new cleaning elements into the engine arteries to boost the cleansing effect of previous changes,

Thirty years ago, my sister took her Oldsmobile Delta 88 to Lube Masters to have an oil change. A young oil change tech left the motor running while draining the old oil. When they handed the keys back to my sister, she started the car and the motor instantly seize up. Lub Masters refused to accept responsibility for ruined motor. My sister went to see a lawyer. The lawyer told her, "I would have to charge attorneys fees more than the cost of getting your car repaired". My sister ended up having to pay for the motor replacement out of her own pocket.

Do you put the old oil in the sewer? Or burn it?
@TheCapableDriver-f3bАй бұрын
You need to dispose of the old oil at a proper recycling site in your area. I have two county hazardous waste facilities less than half and hour away that I use. Look online to find a local government hazardous waste facility that you can take used oil to in your area.. I can also take the used oil to any auto parts store in my area. Also, many repair shops will also accept used oil - call to confirm. Thanks for watching!

The quicker or the fast shops oil change oil shops will not use the correct tools on the drain plug and round off the plug then over tighten it and also over tighten the smaller filter they put on also and will put to thin of oil on a high mileage engine or might not even put a new filter on Daaaaa

Words of wisdom my friend 👌 😎 Walmart stripped the threads once years ago. And once another company quick lube place put too much oil on one occasion and too little oil on another visit. Great info. Just got done doing mine. Been doing mine for years. Today I noticed I need to check before I buying oil. So I've had this 5 quart jug of synthetic oil that I've been saving for my next oil change that I purchased from Walmart. From the outside the cap part doesn't look like it was opened but when I opened it, the seal on the inside was missing and it only had 4 quarts of oil in it. So I guess next time before I purchase oil I'm going have to check the seal if it's been tampered with and oil amount in it. This is the first time that this has happened. So buyer beware.
@TheCapableDriver-f3bАй бұрын
There is never a seal on the inside of the 5 quart containers that I buy, just a plastic ring at the bottom of the cap that is supposed to indicate that it has been opened. They leak if not kept upright during shipping.

Been doing my own oil changes on three Toyotas for several years now primarily due to the incompetence of the dealership's crew....over/under fills, oil poured on the engine block & components, skid plate bolts stripped or missing, drain bolt and filter excessively tightened and my favorite, the drain bolt not tightened and leaking. I don't even consider third party oil places. I just got off the phone with Toyota because I wanted to see what they charge these days for my '17 Tacoma (6.2 qts synth & OEM filter) and it's $98. I shop OEM filters on Amazon & Mobil 1 oils on Amazon, Costco or Walmart....I think it's right about $50 worth of product for me to do the Tacoma and even less for the '00 and '02. K&N air filters and Fumotos all around. Often rotate my own tires too. Goods and services are way too expensive especially when you have to check that it's done right. Good topic!

Fumoto oil valves are the best. I have a 1997 Tahoe and had to have it towed home from an oil change place. The workers pushed me back out of the bay and I called AAA. The drain hole barely had any threads left. At home I rethreaded the hole and put in a Fumoto valve. No problems and now I do my own oil changes early in the morning before my condo neighbors wake up.

Emergency braking and other safety features work to a certain point - normally if the car wants to steer you can just strong-arm it, same should happen when AEB kicks in - You should still be able to override it with giving it gas and steering to left or right
@TheCapableDriver-f3bАй бұрын
Brakes are much stronger than engines, so you won't be able to override that unless the car is programmed to allow it. Also, you would need to be well trained or a very good alert driver to even think of this in an emergency. As for overpowering the steering, you don't understand how weak some drivers are. Thanks for watching!

When I was a kid many years ago, manufacturers would promote cars as having more power or the ability to "hug the road." Now consumers won't buy a car without a buttload of stupid electronic doo dads. People want climate control for a space smaller than a closet. They want their butts heated and cooled by the seats. People will endlessly brag about all the cool things their cars can do. Unless poor people start buying a lot of new cars I don't see a reversal of the current trend.
