Good rant. I think the value we put on some of these things is silly and usually don't care about scalpers until I can't find something I want. Then I cuss them. 2) Cool gasser collection! I also collect the gassers and drag cars. And the '60s muscle cars, and Corvettes and lead sled customs and the hot rods and...3) Funny about buying the Art Car just to customize. I went through a number of the alphabet '57 Chevies last summer just so I could have them in candy red and metalflake blue, etc. I like it when I find a casting that I like but don't care for the deco; I don't feel so bad about sanding it off. I can see some fluorescent Volvo gassers in my collection's future. What a fun hobby, just try to keep it fun, I guess, and don't get too caught up in the money/business bs part of it

I collect certain cars and when I do I get doubles one to look pretty and one to open and get my dirty paws on. P.s. I also hate the bin nessasary evil sometimes though. P.s.s I only got one of the cyclones didnt know it was a hot commodity now I know why I can't find any more.

A lot of bent cards are from the case boxes getting crunched. One of our local Walmarts have a tendency for warped cards due to the cases getting wet. Scalpers look for opportunity. If they collect, it's just an opportunity to resell down the road. Many hot item cars will cycle back to the pegs, so Joe Scalper may end up with cars that get reissued again. When you start seeing cars on the pegs, that you were looking for, all of a sudden the pegs are full again, with those same cars. I've bought a few Transport sets that were 2 ir 3 years old.

I had an employee tell me i couldnt go thru the box because ppl leave a mess and usually im the one putting everything back where it goes but i told him employees should not be taking cars before they get pegged and he said he didnt know who it is but another collector who was there told him that it was him who took the eclipe from the new brian o conners set amd he said its becuase he was going to buy it so i told him im going to buy this as well so whats the problem lol i tookmany castings with bend cards just becuase im glimg to open them up and i know scalpera do not want them becuase value so for me is better. I take too many duplicates but omce i have my fill i dont take more and its all for custom, some for trade and the others to keep original in the packet

Bought the most recent pop culture set for the mattel 80th anniversary kool kombi, and more importantly for the Aston Martin Vanquish which I believe is the first time they’ve done that Vanquish casting and man is it gorgeous. Sweet finds man!

so depending on where you found the bent cards, the target employees are doing it. I live in Connecticut and I watched one of the employees do it and they're just like everybody makes a mess of it anyway so it doesn't matter

If you want to customize and sell for what it's worth with your time and additional parts that is not scalping.if you just want to buy it and jack up the price because you think you can make a profit, now that is scalping, to me that is stealing from a child who might just be getting into the collecting scene. I never buy a th or sth unless I like it and even then it comes out of the package. A real collector only buys what they like and not to profit off it. I bought an $18 set for $20 and didn't mind because he did the leg work and even delivered it to me. That I don't mind

Scalpers when they over inflate tge price of the casting to a hobby collector from a 1.25 main line / 6-10 dollars for a it should be 3-4 . A premium car from 7.49 - to 20-25 and up should be 10-15 for a hard car to find

Scalpers exist in any passionate field, as soon as one stops, another 10 come out
