A lot of bent cards are from the case boxes getting crunched. One of our local Walmarts have a tendency for warped cards due to the cases getting wet. Scalpers look for opportunity. If they collect, it's just an opportunity to resell down the road. Many hot item cars will cycle back to the pegs, so Joe Scalper may end up with cars that get reissued again. When you start seeing cars on the pegs, that you were looking for, all of a sudden the pegs are full again, with those same cars. I've bought a few Transport sets that were 2 ir 3 years old.

Its nice to know our hobby has a value. Sports cards, stamps, lego, Pokemon cards, Star wars, GI Joe, Mad Ballz, etc...its one of the cheapest hobbies too. God Bless!

so depending on where you found the bent cards, the target employees are doing it. I live in Connecticut and I watched one of the employees do it and they're just like everybody makes a mess of it anyway so it doesn't matter

The term Scalpers comes from people that would buy all the best seating concert tickets and resell them for profit,

A scalper in my appion is a person that takes every great car aka cars that most people dont have and put it on selling platforms such as eBay, Amazon ect and doubles and sometimes triples the prices thats what a scalper is to me tell me what y'all think❤❤❤❤

The seven levels of the Diecast Underworld 1 Hoarders. You don't need 10 of the same version to just sit on them and do literally nothing more with them. 2 Aggressive Shoppers. Be courteous to your fellow collectors. Wait your turn if you're not first, don't block kids 3 Card Benders. I'll buy a damaged card for myself, but I'll open anything I buy. Others feel differently 4 Scalpers. Chase diecast for it's own end, not primarily for any dollar value you think is attached to it 5 Thieves. Nuff said. Those who stash finds for later retrieval are really close to this level of shenanigans 6 Repackers. Pulling a switcheroo and returning false product to the store so you can get a "free" car. Find another hobby 7 People who are unkind to employees. Be respectful, it pays dividends.

I do the same exact thing you do. Buy a third or fourth casting I like and customize it my own style. I actually turn the castings I like into STHs, but it is all for my own collection. A scalper is the one who buys all the same one casting then turns around and tries to triple what it costs in the store. Another very important aspect of a scalper is that they are almost always not even collectors of the hobby. They are only in it for the $$$.

Back in 1998 when I was collecting hardcore, stores were punching holes with a hole punch so collectors had a chance to get cars, I personally open Everything, so I don't care about the package

Collecting and scalping are two different things. Redoing them the way you want is awesome. Keeping them the same and reselling them for a profit is scalping.

Scalper to me is those who just buy all and resell them for money. If you buy all and not sell the you are just a hoarder. Lol. Me I am modeler so I buy as many of the car as I like to customized but i don't buy them all at once. Bending the cards doesn't bother me. I still get the car I want.

I had an employee tell me i couldnt go thru the box because ppl leave a mess and usually im the one putting everything back where it goes but i told him employees should not be taking cars before they get pegged and he said he didnt know who it is but another collector who was there told him that it was him who took the eclipe from the new brian o conners set amd he said its becuase he was going to buy it so i told him im going to buy this as well so whats the problem lol i tookmany castings with bend cards just becuase im glimg to open them up and i know scalpera do not want them becuase value so for me is better. I take too many duplicates but omce i have my fill i dont take more and its all for custom, some for trade and the others to keep original in the packet

If you want to customize and sell for what it's worth with your time and additional parts that is not scalping.if you just want to buy it and jack up the price because you think you can make a profit, now that is scalping, to me that is stealing from a child who might just be getting into the collecting scene. I never buy a th or sth unless I like it and even then it comes out of the package. A real collector only buys what they like and not to profit off it. I bought an $18 set for $20 and didn't mind because he did the leg work and even delivered it to me. That I don't mind

A customizer isn't a scalper. He has to invest his time⏰, and 💰💰money for paint stripper, a drill, drill bits, screws, glue, paint, paint brushes, tape, decals, wheels. Then if he does attempt sell it.... at a profit??? someone always asks for a discount off the price.

Scalpers when they over inflate tge price of the casting to a hobby collector from a 1.25 main line / 6-10 dollars for a it should be 3-4 . A premium car from 7.49 - to 20-25 and up should be 10-15 for a hard car to find

When I started collecting I wasn’t into the mainlines, nor do I have the time to run through 19 stores during a given day. Thankfully I have the means and buy premium only from online stores. Do I have to pay shipping? Yes. Do I have to deal with some crackhead ransacking the pegs because they called the store 72 hours earlier and learned they were getting a shipment at 6:00am on a Tuesday and now they’ve cordoned off the entire toy aisle to themselves with unopened cases? No. Winning

Scalpers are in it for the money, not for the enjoyment of collecting. I've purposely held onto some sought after HWs while a person who I know is a scalper is there also looking through the HWs. I walk around the store for awhile then put the HWs back on the pegs right in the front so somebody else can get them. I don't know if another scalper gets it but I know I stopped one scalper from getting it.

I hope they keep bending the cards. Because maybe the scalpers will leave some of these cars for other collectors. Out of all of this , these cars are for kids and it’s hard to find for them.
