Six feet, 220 lbs here. I’ve dropped, laid down, crashed this bike about 25 times in the first 3K miles in the worst terrain the humid, slick clay based, thickly wooded, Appalachian mountains has to offer. Only had to replace shifter, hand levers, and foot pedal. Still runs fine. I have a Ricochet skid plate.

Was the third brake light not working a result of installing the LED’s or did it just burn out?

I have the same tires on my 2023 392 Extreme Recon JLU, never any issues, and i raise hell in this thing, only thing I would recommend is getting the Apex 2 1/2 ton steering kit, and the American Iron off-road BALL JOINT DELETE KIT, AMAZING products and you will never have to worry about replacing any of them again. As far as gas mileage goes, you got 5:13 gears which sounds right, im not sure what the factory tire size was or gear ratio was so i can't say for sure, one thing though that will definitely affect shift points, which affects gas milage is not properly measuring tire size, if you measured from the ground to top of tire that is DEFINITELY WRONG, the only way to measure correctly is from the CENTER of tour wheel to the ground, then times that by 2, and that is your rolling diameter, and what the computer sees, i know this as facts because of what I do for work. But just like anyone else you are entitled to do whatever you think is best, great video,👍👍👍

You could go with a FMF exhaust but love bike especially the color Mine is the KLX230R but going to try to trade it in for the KLX230S like that one cause mines a slight too tall for me and I can fit the KLX230S perfect

The after market exhausts won't do much on a 230 for performance might not sound like your hoping for either get suspension upgrades

Getting your suspension done will give you more performance than a new pipe will. If your budget is limited, suspension is a way better investment than a pipe!

RE: Tubes - the question is how did the thorn get inside? And how did the other tube leak? Both were possibly due to low air pressure , and less the tube. Upgrading to HD tubes is never a bad idea, but unless you resolve your pressure issue, HD tubes can still be punctured.

The spark arrestor is USFS required. Get your trail sticker first. If you didn't like pillion wrecking without gear you won't like pilot wrecking either. If you're mostly street,get a leather jacket and,or an airbag. Your dirt protction should be enough to allow you to not be discouraged by repeated flops and the occasional over the bar senic tour.Some states have excellent dirt schools for your introductory level and they may be nearby your location. Don't be disappointed by your smaller dualsport,they seem to underwhelm,I find the choice of trail system or dualsport event finds a level of value for smaller displacement and skills. Try to aviod the upgrades unti skill and confidence improve. No sense in on bike fiddly bits until you have plated and ORV stickered.Find some ridin' buddies and prepare to be overwhelmed if they know what they're doing. Stay with it,the good people want to help you find your mojo. Thanks MK

DON'T PURCHASE recived my unit about 4 months ago, worked fine for the first month and now is all muffled and unbearable to listen to. Contacted SYPHON and was told i would only get a partial refund due to it exceeding their 1 month warranty period ( spent 3 weeks of that being shipped.) I have now taken this matter up with paypal to recoup my 300AUD ( without shipping.) Do your research, not worth the money. If your looking for good helmet speakers keep looking, these aren't them.

Good info. Thanks! If you don't like flat tires, consider trying out the Sahara Moto tire balancer. Not only will it balance your wheels, it will permanently seal a hole in your tire up to 1/2 inch wide. I run it in all my bikes. No more flats! Cheers!

Nice job. Try standing up and pulling back on the bars a little to lighten the front end. It will be easier to deal with obsticles and soft conditions like sand and mud in that attack position.

Clean setup in that Fly helmet! Quick tip: a fast twist turns the volume up, but if you hold that twist a couple of seconds it skips forward a song 👊

I’m 5’10” and buying the 230s. It’s a lot easier to ride in stop and go traffic being able to flat foot. I think the 300 seat is 2” higher.

I have the 21 KLX230 with knobby Pirelli MT16s, which adds a couple of inches to the seat height. I'm probably a small bit taller than you, but need the traction for mud and sand. I removed the baffle so I can be heard in the woods. Don't need to crash into deer, horseback riders, or worse. They get out of my way when they hear me coming around the bend. Haven't noticed any loss of power. I can hit 75 on the street, without difficulty, with fat knobbies and no baffle.

Hey where did you find the tusk shifter for the 230? Everything I see says they are only for the 300.

I had the exact bumper without fog light holes. Great looking bumper with easy access to the winch. I had to trade the Jeep quickly and now I’m moving everything over to the other JLU. I wish VKS was still in business otherwise I’d get the same bumper again. I mounted my ambers BD wide cornering lights with Axia Alloys clamps to the tube pointed down in front of the winch. Looked great like that. Anyone know of a similar fabricated bumper with no fog light holes?
