It’s from Scheherazade (sadly I cannot tell you where exactly in the ballet). Nate Fifield adapted it for the tendu with plié exercise in his album The Great Ballets Vol. 4 - all of this class is based on his arrangements from different Great Ballets albums.

Don’t stop! Even if an intense time in school takes focus and dedication, work on time management and multi-tasking, to manage both. A good and healthy nutrition will be helpful to fuel body and mind. If you forcefully choose between two worlds, you will regret later. However, dance comes in many forms. If you dream of a career in another job and are happy to dance recreationally, you can always pick it up later - don’t let that stop you! I hope you become the best version of yourself!

Thank you! That combination is actually from my class for professionals but I thought it’s a nice excursion into some repertoire port de bras for the advanced students as well. Yes, my training in school was according to Vaganova. Later on however I was lucky enough to take class with many different masters and caught onto some other techniques as well. There is so much to learn!

Thank you! Funny enough, my port de bras was always my weak point. I guess the focus over the years helped to now make them one of my strong points. Sometimes hyperextension is nice, like in some Raymonda or Bayadère parts….
