I have a pair of Lowa Camino that I use as an everyday shoe because I have an artificial ankle joint. I love them.

Hola, I just returned home to the Central Coast. Finished 859 kilometers on France''' blew right by Santiago straight to Finistere !! Could not WAIT!! to finish Camino at Santiago as the FILTH!! Feces! Toilet Paper! Beer Cans !! "energy" drink cans!! On and On and On!! Oh and Belize it or not! Cigarette boxes by the boat load! and I started at Pamplona March14th!! I cannot imagine all the Trash now in May!! People!! It is OUT OF CONTROL. The pilgrims better wake up soon because if I was a local I would start forcing the hikers a Trash Fee! and the most pathetic thing is the homeowners and small villages have HUGE!! 3 colored garbage dumpsters yet the hikers disregard them! I followed 3 bus loads of privileged high schoolers who started at Sarria and witnessed many of them simply throwing their shit right on the roads and trails! I will NOT!! ever consider doing the French way again! However, I am already excited for my April 15, 2025 return to do the Porto and the Primitivo and hope there is a lot less Basura on the trails. As I quickly after 2 beers left Santiago the garbage factor towards Finisterre dropped 90% yet sure enough there was still garbage on trail. I SIMPLY CANNOT WRAP MY HEAD AROUND THIS PROBLEM!! YOU KNOW WHO ARE , STAY AT HOME AND TRASH YOUR OWN NEIGHBORHOODS!! Por Favor!! Pismorichy, Buen Camino.

what brand is your sleeping bag and equipment please?
@counteverythingcamino9 ай бұрын
The sleeping bag I used was an old one I had at home. It was a basic 3 seasons one. The bivvy bag I found online using Google. It was quite cheap.

Great video and info. I'm planning to do the Camino del Norte mid September into October and want to sleep outside if possible. I did a bike trip through the south of France and through a big chunk of Spain back in the 80s in December-January. I originally only brought a sleeping bag with me and no tent or sleeping pad. Believe it or not I found a tent on the way when sleeping in a building under construction. It can be quite cold at night even when sleeping on beaches that are hot during the day. When cycling between Seville and Granada I slept at high elevation only in my sleeping bag on the ground- too tired to set tent up. Woke in the morning with ice on my sleeping bag. So, can you sleep outside in Spain doing a trip like the Camino? Yes. But be ready for difficulty finding spots, uncomfortable sites and uneasy sleeps at times. Things I could handle back in my 20s. Not so easy now in my 60s. I would not recommend a large or showy tent as getting out of view is not always easy.
@counteverythingcamino9 ай бұрын
Thanks. I think the rule on the Camino is flexibility. I think places to sleep outside might be limited, but you find a good place then I think would be a good part of the adventure.
@KowalskiVanishing_Point9 ай бұрын
@@counteverythingcamino Thanks for reply. Definitely need to be flexible and sleeping outside the whole trip is not written in stone. I think meeting other travelers at the end of the day must be an important part of the experience regardless of why on is doing this walk.

Great vids I will start my Camino March 15th leap frogging Jean - Port to Rocesvalle, I have all intentions of pitching my UL tent the entire way based upon my decades of Backcountry wilderness hiking . No disrespect to the locals and I can well afford Alburgues and hotels I simply will not be subjected to rude drunk disrespectful amateurs. At my age I will need uninterrupted sleep . Thanks so much for your insight Happy Trails , PismoRichy PCT thruhiker and trail angel.

Great advice. Are bed bugs super common in albergues?
@counteverythingcamino Жыл бұрын
Bed bugs are an issue in albergues, but at least they are design to try to reduce the problem. Hotels have the same risks, but have all the soft furnishings and furniture that bed bugs like to live in.

Do you have a link for that water bottle holder? Excellent analysis, btw. My wife and I have been training for our first Camino in October and using the Ausprey bladders is working well for training, but I notice that I don't drink water as often through the tube as I do when I have a water bottle to place in hand. I think once we are on Camino, we will switch to bottles, but the place where we do training walks, water is less frequently available. Thanks for a great video.

@counteverythingcamino Жыл бұрын
I think lighting fires along the Camino would be a bad idea. People have died in forest fires in Spain, and people have been sent to prison for causing them. The Camino is a very busy route and there are no dangerous wild animals along it, apart from the occasional snake or tick.

Excellent video! I greatly enjoyed many of your videos in preparing for my Camino Frances in 2019. Due to Covid and other factors, I haven't had the opportunity to do another Camino since. I've been eyeing the Del Norte and some fellow Pilgrims have mentioned that I should consider a tent. I do some lightweight backpacking and have a lightweight tent and tarp. The Bivouac option seems very common sense practice, as well as Leave No Trace principles and taking any trash along. I think a lightweight tart and perhaps a Bivy Sack may be the route I take. Thank you for sharing this information!
