Great vids I will start my Camino March 15th leap frogging Jean - Port to Rocesvalle, I have all intentions of pitching my UL tent the entire way based upon my decades of Backcountry wilderness hiking . No disrespect to the locals and I can well afford Alburgues and hotels I simply will not be subjected to rude drunk disrespectful amateurs. At my age I will need uninterrupted sleep . Thanks so much for your insight Happy Trails , PismoRichy PCT thruhiker and trail angel.

Thanks. Some people do manage to camp the whole and some mix albergues with camping. Good luck with your Camino.

U cracking me up! Doritos on the ground ! Surprised mice/ critters didn't crawl in with u during the night, as for Bivy I'm opting for my tent that weighs 27 oz. As when not if there is a 24 hour rain. My Lanshan Pro 1 is waterproof..

Great video and info. I'm planning to do the Camino del Norte mid September into October and want to sleep outside if possible. I did a bike trip through the south of France and through a big chunk of Spain back in the 80s in December-January. I originally only brought a sleeping bag with me and no tent or sleeping pad. Believe it or not I found a tent on the way when sleeping in a building under construction. It can be quite cold at night even when sleeping on beaches that are hot during the day. When cycling between Seville and Granada I slept at high elevation only in my sleeping bag on the ground- too tired to set tent up. Woke in the morning with ice on my sleeping bag. So, can you sleep outside in Spain doing a trip like the Camino? Yes. But be ready for difficulty finding spots, uncomfortable sites and uneasy sleeps at times. Things I could handle back in my 20s. Not so easy now in my 60s. I would not recommend a large or showy tent as getting out of view is not always easy.

Thanks. I think the rule on the Camino is flexibility. I think places to sleep outside might be limited, but you find a good place then I think would be a good part of the adventure.

@@counteverythingcamino Thanks for reply. Definitely need to be flexible and sleeping outside the whole trip is not written in stone. I think meeting other travelers at the end of the day must be an important part of the experience regardless of why on is doing this walk.

Thank you for the video, What are your thoughts about availability during winter? I intend to do the last 100km this December, would be grateful for your thoughts......I have subscribed.

Most albergues are closed in the winter, but with planning it might be do able. I think it would be quite cold in the winter to camp outside.

what brand is your sleeping bag and equipment please?
@counteverythingcamino9 ай бұрын
The sleeping bag I used was an old one I had at home. It was a basic 3 seasons one. The bivvy bag I found online using Google. It was quite cheap.

HOW could anyone turn a women away with two baby's ?? Flip side: WHY would any sane women take two baby's on the camino way?? The world is mad.

The hostals ate really only set up for adults. I there would have been places she could have stated, but they would have been more expensive.

Could you make a fire 🔥 I guess that would attract animals probably not aloud
@counteverythingcamino Жыл бұрын
I think lighting fires along the Camino would be a bad idea. People have died in forest fires in Spain, and people have been sent to prison for causing them. The Camino is a very busy route and there are no dangerous wild animals along it, apart from the occasional snake or tick.

@@counteverythingcamino thank you for replying back I’m in Spain for 3 months I’m gonna wait for the trail to die down a bit I heard a lot of foreigners taking up the hotels by 80% percent today
