EDIT: Figured it out and it was all me. I was trying to lock the doors with the door open. It had nothing to do w/ the keyless door module and everything to do w/ Toyota not wanting their buyers to lock their keys in their car w/ the keys in the ignition. (Leaving my original commend below in case anyone else has a brain fart and does the same thing...) I have a similar Amazon aftermarket keyless door lock system and have a weird issue. I have it wires as such from the harness that came w/ the alarm... 1998 Toyota Tacoma SR5 (Electric locks, just no remote capability from the factory) Red (12V+) Black (Ground) White (Pin 13) (12V+ Accessory/Ignition) - With this connected, it seems to lock and unlock the doors when I turn the key to Accessory White (Lock) Yellow (Ground) White/Black (Unlock) Yellow/Black (Ground) The remotes work just fine. It's when the truck is running (or in accessory) that things aren't right. The truck will not lock. I have disconnected the White (Pin13) Ignition wire and I get the same results. So with this white connected. I unlock the truck, get it, start the truck, the locks cycle to locked and quickly unlocked. I cannot manually lock the truck. They quickly unlock again. With this White (Pin 13) disconnected, I unlock the truck, get it, start the truck, the locks no longer try to lock (so this wire is to lock on start) I still cannot manually lock the truck. They quickly unlock when I try. Any suggestions?

@@DeanoKelley hmm difficult to say for certain but. I will experiment on my truck when I'm not working. It sounds like a "feature" to prevent you from locking your keys in your truck when it's running is interfering.

@@DeanoKelley I can say for certain that if my truck is running, and I get in and close all the doors and hit the lock button, the doors do infact lock and stay locked

I've got a 98 base Taco (California) none of the junction box plugs look like yours and the wiring diagram from toyota's page of plug styles don't have my configuration either. I suspect there's a California-only addendum that is top secret.

Interesting. If you get a cheap test light you can mostly figure it out I bet. This truck in the video was purchased in California although now it resides on the East Coast. If you're probing around and end up needing to cut a wire to test it, just cut it in a spot that gives you enough space to solder it back together on either side and you should be good.

Just happened to my 1999 Prerunner, will go down, not up, hear the motor just spinning, stripped a gear I guess. Bought this brand new, been good, going to try to keep it going. Thanks for the info. Going to order the part, thought I could just order a new motor, guess not.

Roughly $10 and I called a few Nissan dealers in my area. Other comments advise that you can also contact a locksmith with capabilities to cut a key from a VIN number

Should be very doable. Just trace the wire back from the horn and figure out which one gets energized. I'm just guessing though, I haven't tried it

If anyone is having this problem just take the key to almost any locksmith and they should be able to cut you a new shell key to the factory specifications. Then they cut the old transponder out of your old key and put it in the new shell. Looks and works just like the original when it was new.

The Nissan dealer told me they DO NOT have a "door key" or "valet key" The ONLY key they have is a $350 key (200 key 150 to program), I called 2 different local dealers, and both said they do not show a $10 door key.. did they offer the "door key" to you as a solution or did they try to sell you on the most expensive key first, I'll call some other dealers farther away to see if its just these dealers.

They are definitely quick to try and sell you a $400 key. They tried doing the same to me. Maybe a different dealer, or maybe go in person. I had to go in person and explain exactly what I needed for them to understand. I'm also not sure if you have the same model year, but maybe the results could be dependent on what year?

Go to the dealer to parts section with your information and ID. Request the “ Key Code” for this vehicle. From there, take it to a locksmith to cut it. Or program it with them. The KeyCode is free no cost to get it. Hope this helps.

Maybe the switch just got unplugged? Have you popped the door panel off and checked the back of the switch?

No worries brother! These trucks are good, but eventually some stuff does start going out. I personally can't complain, my trucks been great to me overall. With that patch on your shoulder, it looks like you were in Korea. I spent some time there as well, so it seems we have more than just trucks in common!

Same thing happened this weekend, Key wouldn't turn and the steering Colum locked and got a cut out at AutoZone instead of a VIN cutout from the dealer. Thanks for the info

Glad it worked out, happy to help....5-10 bucks for a dummy key beats the $200 tow and new transponder key. Atleast that will get you going for a while until you can get a new one programmed.

@@brendalove1230 As I interpret @samuelom2002's message, it seems to me, they were able to get a "dummy" key cut at autozone, and did not have to go to the dealer to get the "dummy" key cut from the VIN. In either case, you would still need the transponder to be in range of the sensor so the "immobilizer" will in turn, deactivate and allow you to start your car. You can always try autozone, or a hardware store, or something similar before heading to a dealer because they're typically inexpensive. In some cases, not getting it cut from the VIN will in fact work. It just depends on if your key is worn down. In my case, the key was so worn down, that when the hardware store traced the pattern onto a brand new key, that new key had all the imperfections copied over. By getting a key cut to your VIN by a dealer, you essentially eliminate that variable. Hope this helps!

If it's not rolling up I'd say, you might have an issue with the window motor itself, but either way if you buy the one I linked in the description, it will get you a new regulator and a new motor

Yea if you use the switch on the up position the motor just whines, but nothing happens. My guess is something is stripped so its just spinning and no grab. At 26 years old, id say a replacement is justifiable haha.

Maybe you could use a test light? Hook the clamp to ground, hit the unlock button on your fob and probe the wire out of the control box....see if it flashes the test light

@@blakeevans-np2ib haven't wired it up to anything yet. You could potentially buy a cheap flasher relay, and wire it to the horn for a panic button? Still waiting to come up with something more useful.
