As a Flying Fijian fan, I strongly suggest that the FFs be promoted to games with T1. Us playing in the Pacific Nations cup is killing our growth, the development of out game. We have programs in place to recruit talent from secondary/high school into the Drua program. Before we used to get teenagers to play in the Skipper cup competition before they were scouted for Warriors. Now that we have the Drua in the Super rugby competition, it's elevated our preps. Long story short. We don't want to play Tonga, Samoa, Japan, Canada or USA in the PNC.

It is taking a long time for the Islander teams to understand what is meant by 'the contest' in Rugby. Rugby is not an approximation of a skirmish or a battle, a brawl or even a fight. It is a test to see if the player can manage the deliberately complex but inter-related laws of the game when under pressure of time, being hurt, etc. at speed. Nations like Tonga have the power, the courage, the speed, the resilience and skills to play far outside their weight division (population base) and yet find themselves defeated by the penalty count time after time. The object of the game is to produce thinkers, people you can count on when things go wrong; and to improve outcomes when things are better. No other reason exists.
