Looking back this was a terrible era for the band, it just sounds lifeless- the guitars sound lame, not enough gain and Lars is playing everything a few beats too slow. The loads were so dull, its painful to listen to them. Such a shame, their audience wanted metal, but Metallica had other ideas. I get no joy watching this stuff

I saw them on October 27th, 1990 in NYC. They opened for King's X at the Limelight. A legendary night for we KX fans. I stood next to Layne on the floor watching King's X rip through their new album not knowing just how great he was but we became instant AiC fans that night.
