Kranmic is the epitome of what I hate about chess. Thank god for people like Danya or Aman/Eric (and many other awesome chess players) to keep it fun and entertaining.

If you are so worried about naka saying fuck yourself, why are you netcasting the expression for the entire world on this channel then? Anyway, this is what happens why you go berserk calling everyone who beats you a cheater - it's called 'what goes around comes around', you idiot! 🦾

Two seconds left on the clock. Hovering over the d2 square, the mouse pointer crawls towards the d4 pawn. A click, and then it crawls again, this time to the king on g1. A single click (Kramnik does this maddening thing constantly). Time runs out. Defeat. "What is happening???" To lose on time is unfortunate, but to lose in this manner, in online chess, and for YEARS... well, that requires a special kind of ineptitude.

Kramnik is missing the neural activity exhibited here, his anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) is not mitigating at the level we see here. The ACC jumps in to iron out the differences between intuition and hard calculation. He doesn't have the level of familiarity in this region of the brain, and it is unfortunate that he looks to blame outside factors, "must be cheating" to explain his discrepancy.

At 2:22 he is def correct. 0.9 sec increment for him, 1.2 sec for his opponent.

His opponent is getting 1 second, but the displayed timers run locally on the client, so ping plays a role here. His opponent moved at 0.7, but because of the ping between Kramnik and him it takes ~0.2 seconds to be sent to Kramniks client, thus his timer adding 1.2 seconds. Because of this delay, the server communicates a time that is not synced with the local timer, thus the local timer adjusts itself. In this adjustment Kramnik gets 0.1s added onto his local timer (hinting that the ping is somewhere between 0.1s and 0.2s and is getting rounded to the nearest 0.1s on the local timer). He also gets one second, but his timer was about to turn to 3.8 and the time shown after his timer freezes is the corrected server time, not his out of sync local time. You can count the frames; every 0.1s is shown for 12 frames (meaning his phone records at 120fps), 3.9 is shown for 9 frames which means he really had 3.925s (3.9s is shown starting at 3.999s; depending on the server tick-rate it might be more or fewer 9s) on his local timer, the time is then added and corrected by the server. 3.925s is rounded to 3.900s, which is one increment (again depending on tick-rate; likely something like 0.01s or 0.001s) before the timer turns to 3.8 and thus is rounded to 3.8s (3.899). This means he effectively lost a 40th of a second to rounding in this instance, which is not even close to being relevant in reaction time (avg human reaction time is about 10 times that) and negligible (especially when considering that he also gained such small amounts in other instances due to rounding up). Kramnik is (again) making hasty and not at all thought-through judgements about things he does not care to understand. Nothing about this is fishy, this is just how internet technology works.

@@lyxsm Great answer. Kramnik has a lot of issues. That being said, i can understand him airing his frustrations since pings and server times and whatnot is not common knowledge. Especially with people in kramnik's generation

@saz100 Ping is more or less irrelevant; it's the transfer of data packets that determines how fast or slow the connection is. You will have situations all the time were lag exists even with low ping because of this

Topalov was pretty much right. Magnus didn't become champion for another eight years after making the statement that 'no new chess giant like Kasparov would appear in the near future', nor has Magnus dominated for as long as he. We'll have to wait and see it he's truly the best (Kaspy still the goat imo)

Every revolutionary is met with universal opprobrium at first. While I don't believe Kramnik is necessarily right about every cheating case, there's definitely more to it than meets the eye. These so-called authorities on chess have been proven time and time again to have ulterior motives as with Niemann OTB cheating accusations, which have clearly been fabricated. I wouldn't be surprised if more than half of these cases have grounds. You have to remember the man has a peak playing strength of over 2800 and is not affiliated with any chess site unlike Hikaru, Magnus and the like, which at least avoids the possibility of a conflict of interest arising out of him giving his genuine opinion. He's clearly more qualified to give his opinion than anybody in this comment section.
