Tbf, its not easy to immediately spot it if you are not looking for a hanging-piece tactic. Why would Ding miss it otherwise? Everyone other than Leko & Anish & Chessdojo were looking at eval only. Even Leko&Anish may have been guided by the eval bar going up and the fact that they spotted an only move earlier -- so as to find the winning move in the next one. Took me a couple of seconds after I saw the move to work out why it wins. Chessdojo commentary has been great. Only commentary without an engine. 👍🏽

@vibovitold2 күн бұрын
The position was already falling apart, and now after Qxc6 he can't recapture with the b pawn, because the b pawn is pinned. If bxc6, then Rxb8 grabs the Rook, which is defended by the black Queen, but so is white's Rook, since White has got another Rook on b1. After Rxb8 the Black Queen would also be pinned - it can't move away because it's standing between White's Rook and Black King, so that Queen will be lost as well (repaying the original "investment" of sacrificing the Queen for the Knight on c6). In other words, after Qxc6 Ding is losing material no matter what he does, and the game changes from practically lost to utterly and irrecoverably lost for Black.
