Very informative! Great job! I have a genuine question though. What is the point of extending the tentacles that way? What is the reason for not doing the 30+40 in one single shot?
@offthebeatenhook7 күн бұрын
Thank you! Sure, a great question that I get a lot. LOL. I like to integrate realistic features and with the octopus I really wanted the tentacles to be tapered! Doing it the way I designed it will create a tapered tentacle, but you can certainly achieve great tentacles the way you're suggesting as well! :)

I’m very confused after the four slip stitches. When I go to do round 18, I am supposed to do 56 SC… but that doesn’t take me all the way around. Do I start over counting and continue?

I'm here because of the 5-dcbo in the sheep from the nativity pattern by Off the Beaten Hook ❤. Yeah, it scared me at first, but it's just a friendly group of double crochets, hanging out, just bobbling. Like they do...😂 Thanks for the video!!🎉

Legit! I was a stay at home wife for many years but when our first two were toddlers, my husband couldn't understand why I couldn't get all of the things he'd Ask me to make sure were done during the day. Asking me the age old "What do you do all day?!". Now, he was active with our kids but didn't really have an opportunity to be alone with them for more than Couple hours at a time. Then one time, he was off work and I went out for the entire day. And I gave HIM a task. When I came home that evening, the house was a mess and the task was undone. I asked him why. He turned to me and asked me seriously, " how do you get ANYTHING done?!" He's never asked what I do all day again, lol. We've been married for 22 years this December!

So…I started to make a Highland Cow after agonizing over which pattern and which yarn. I finally ordered the yarn and, when I finished a hoof and got about half of a leg started, I thought there wasn’t as much contrast as I thought. So, I switched to a totally different color and type of yarn, and I may switch again. I never thought buying “brown” yarn was so difficult! LOL! 🙃

Thank you for sharing! That can be frustrating too.. sometimes the yarn just wants to speak for itself!

I don't understand why the tentacles are split up between the 30 first stitches and then 40 foundation single crochet. Why don't you just chain 70 and work it as one piece instead? It seems extra complicated for no reason.
@offthebeatenhook2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your opinion! Octopus tentacles are tapered (thicker towards the top and thinner towards the tips). I like to add realistic components to my amigurumi animals which is why I designed it that way. Great question!
@samanthajarvis39312 ай бұрын
@@offthebeatenhook oh! That makes sense. Would it work out the same by doing 30 hdc and 40 sc? I'm just trying to think of the easiest way to do it bc my fsc are either way too tight or way too lose, not consistent at all.

I don't see any comments saying they finished the project. What a waste of time and money. Unsubscribe. Why put a tutorial up that doesn't show you the complete process? It's frustrating to spend so much time and money and not have the end of it.

I finished both panels. Had to order more yarn, twice as much as i originally had. The Summer's almost over. It took me so long to make these panels because I didn't want to order more yarn and I tried switching yarns a couple times and finally ordered more and finished the panels. Now I have no idea how to put these together. I started a seam going 20 in down the long side and then I realized that that wasn't going to work. I'm a little frustrated that I've spent so much time and money and don't have the complete instructions. Do you have assembly instructions available? If not I might as well throw this whole thing away cuz I'm so frustrated and stuck.

Hello There! I'm so sorry you must have missed reading the description for the KZbin video. I have three links in there that direct you to the full, complete pattern. You can access the entire written pattern for free on my website and use this tutorial to supplement parts of the pattern. My youtube tutorials cover parts of the patterns that will assist a maker completing the project, but I don't make the tutorials that cover the entire making of a project. I'm so sorry you weren't aware of that. You can definitely read the description box of the video which gives you the links to find the complete pattern so you can finish it! Thanks for reaching out!

Hi. I’m so excited to be making this. I have a stupid question: are safety eyes okay to use if I’m giving this to a child? The name implies it but I just want to make sure. Thank u!
@offthebeatenhook3 ай бұрын
Hello There! yes, safety eyes are designed to not come out. Based on the ones you're using, just be sure you're putting the backs on in the correct way. If you put the backs on backwards, they will come off too easily!
