Can you explain why how a stock price that can go down to pennies or zero can make the company bankrupt if they are actually not receiving any money from the investors?
@JayFairbrother17 сағат бұрын
The stock price going to zero doesn’t cause the company to go bankrupt, but the stock price is (usually) a good reflection of how the company is performing in the real world. So it’s the company being in big trouble that causes the stock to be worth nothing, not the other way around

Huh. The question I always wanted answered, but would always forget to ask. Edit: Laf, I knew of every fact you stated, but not within a particular context where I could understand their relationships. Brilliant. What’s funny is that I’ve been wondering the ‘why’ of most of your points for around 35 years now. 😮. Well, ‘funny’ as in why TF did I never just research to find out, or even simply Ask Jeeves!

Awesome vid. What do you mean by interest rate high? You mean like house interest rates… what kind of interest rate? You mean the interest lending rate?

Hi Jay, on a somewhat related topic--- where do the shares come from when you are using a DRIP? Are these new shares issued by the company? Maybe that could be a video topic for you.

I never thought I bonds was a good choice for my money. With the Fed fighting to lower inflation rate by raising interest rates, I figured they would win the battle and I was right. You won't lose money with I bonds, but you won't make a lot either.

As soon as the Fed started raising rates I started buying CDs. The highest available at that time was 4%. As they matured I put them in 18 mo. & 2yr call protected CDs. I have 5 now with APYs between 5.0 & 5.35%. The last one matures in August 2026. I had to start taking my RMDs in 2024 so as my CDs matured started putting into T-bills & notes. You would think I would have given some thought to T-bills before then living in California. I didn't touch my savings in Marcus & Ally because I was content with the rates I was getting. In October I also renewed my 3 year fixed Annuity at 4.4%. Not really unhappy about any of the choices I made. My stock fund is managed so I just play around with my available cash.

Getting a CD DOESN'T mean you Locking up your money. That's the biggest lie . It means you Locking in the BANK in committing to paying YOU. BECAUSE YOU CAN ALWAYS GET YOUR MONEY WHEN YOU NEED IT . JUST BE STRATEGIC! CHOOSE A CD WITH A SHORT DURATION PENALTY PHASE. ONE YOU PAST THAT YOU BASICALLY USING THEIR OWN MONEY TO PAY THE PENALTY. BUT WHY WOULD YOU WANT YOUR MONEY BACK WHEN YOU GETTING FREE MONEY YOU CAN USE AS A SUPPLEMENTAL INCOME BY HAVING THE INTEREST COMING OUT TO YOU MONTHLY TO YOUR EXTERNAL ACCOUNT?

This video is helpful. I decided to do as you did and replicated the 4, 8, and 13-week strategies. I used Treasury Direct. I only used 20 K in each Bill. You state that you take the bill and reinvest it into a 13-week with both the 4 and 8-week bill so you have a maturity date every 5 weeks. I like that. However, during the purchasing process, it asks about re-investing and defaults to a "no." I left it a no. Should I have clicked the yes box to be able to continue to buy after maturity?
@JayFairbrother7 күн бұрын
If you click yes it would automatically buy a new tbill of the same length at maturity. If you’re going to switch to a different length leaving it a no was the right choice
