Thanks for the video Alex! Was wondering about this exact situation for my upcoming BTO (since my SO likes the sleek look of the in-wall AP so much). Could I ask how would you handle security for your IOT devices and how you would segregate your home network? After doing my research, it seems that people tend to create a separate VLAN for their IOT devices (in case they are compromised), however I am unsure how to set up the ACL and if the ER7212PC supports setting up separate VLANs (internal, IOT, guest) or roaming for swapping between APs with the best signal strength?

correction : the tapo switch does not use zigbee, it uses its own proprietary sub-1g protocol

Hello, great video! I have a question If i have a samsung tv is it enough to only get the phillips light (i mean without that sync box and the white thing) and just upload the phillips app on the tv?(and do i have to also pay for the app?

So if I buy a package of 3 units, does that mean that I have to use 1 as a main node and the other 2 as satellites? The reason I'm asking is that I'd like to equip 3 rooms/3 parts of the house with Deco M4s. Should I then buy a set of 4?

Hmmm, so Google Home is the best option. Kool, this video narrowed down which app I will use to manage all my home smart devices. Not sure how Apple solution got such a high mark when it comes to not being free. But hey I get which you prefer.

Best 1 so far (forme) is the Philips HUE SYNC BOX.. Not the TV sync App. 😂 it goes hard in da paint.. It's pricy but worth it. & Then govee #2 with the dreamView.

Question. Can the two camera models be mounted at the bottom of the TV? So that it does block the ambient lights on the top?
@AlexTeo3 күн бұрын
technically you can but you need to find your own ways to secure them properly

Quick question @AlexTeo: does ZHA recognise all the variants (1-gang, 2-gang, 3-gang & 4-gang) or just the 4-gang version that's shown in your review? Great video btw!

yup it recognizes all, but for the slider i'm not sure whether zha works now, mqtt definitely works

I just bought the X20 vacuum cleaner on 16 April 2024. Product design may be a very big issue as the device became faulty in less than a month. To add to the heartache will be the processes of the technical & support team … quite unthinkable for such a reputable Company. PLEASE STICK TO THE OLDER MODEL WITHOUT FRILL. So sad & deeply disappointed.

Hi Alex, great video! Can please advise if its for 4rm (1000sqf) hdb and with the three AP for each of the rooms. Can i get the internet coverage for the entire house including toilet, kitchen, living room and door bell?
@AlexTeo5 күн бұрын
your living room needs to have a AP
@erzayusrina42398 күн бұрын
Ac + AP only applicable with copper cable ready inside the walls. If not ready, you have to ready to bear the charges for hacking or else you can see messy wire running around your house. Other option better go for FTTR solution by using invisible fibre cable. More reliable of course better throughput because of fiber.

Hi Alex. Hopefully u will see this post. After close to 2 years for this review, do u think this doorbell is still relevant and worthwhile investing or r there any newer and better options? I'm looking to replace my not very good smart doorbell and I need inputs and suggestions. Thanks much.
@AlexTeo8 күн бұрын
the google nest doorbell is very good imo especially if you are also using google home with the google nest hub... i am actually considering doing an updated smart doorbell video this year
@edwinktc768 күн бұрын
@@AlexTeo i don't actually own a nest hub, though I could get 1 for the set purpose, though purchasing it isn't straight forward of not being available in SG itself, wonder using US forwarding postal services like EZ Buy can be an option? However, I was thinking there might be newer and better options out there after close to 2 years.

While i do not want a camera at the top of my TV, the fact that it doesn't go through a box that might not be up to par with HDMI 2.1 and doesn't increase latency, which they all do, some worse than others, and this works with EVERY TV, no matter what brand, no TV app needed etc. and the price is pretty good, i think Govee is the way to go. For me at least. It's most future proof too i guess.

its pretty straight forward since there is a direct homekit integration in HA, then you can slowly remove devices one by one in homekit and add them in HA

Personal thoughts on trying to get a better network for my 4RM HDB flat, but realised I could actually just switch to my 4G/5G data while I am at the kitchen toliet (Wifi dead zone), and actually nowadays telco offer more and better 4G/5G data package which I will not able to finish it every month.. But if you have a nice budget, this video definitely is a good outcome/tips for new home owners. Great job Alex!

Love the hue sync box. Got 3 of them with two bridges. My whole house also uses hue lights. I tried Govee and owned dreamscreen years ago. Govee and dreamscreen are similar. Software sucks and reminds me of android as hue software reminds me of iOS. hardware seems generic for govee other than the box and the back lights aren’t great if you buy a new TV cuz taking them off could damage the LED and at the same time, will not stick on new TV. Colors are brighter on govee but when you are gaming, you dont notice any of it as you aren’t staring at the wall. On top of that, I’ve gone through the experience of these random backlight companies with dreamscreen who just shut down and left customers with a near useless light system. I play with only hue lights on. Got the PC strip behind my 42 inch C2 and two desk top lamps on each side of the table plus two more lights in the back corner of the room all with colored bulbs. Had the ambient light strip for my living room TV since xmas of 2019 and added the others in the past two years and they all still works great with the only issue of having to factory reset when i change WI-FI passwords. Junked the dreamscreen, sold the govee and love the hues.
