My Uncle Stanley. I loved him so. I remember when he had this recording/record done. He was exited and proud and I was happy for him. He'd be so surprised and proud to see his song out here on KZbin. Love you Uncle Stanley ❤️

One of Harlan Howard’s earlier compositions. In the late ‘60’s Carl & Pearl Butler tweaked the tune slightly and did a great version of this song, also on Columbia.

Recently bought an lp of Roly that features this song, what an idea for a song and Basil Hendricks doing the iconic Tammy Wynette steel! Ireland was no shortage of talent!

Junior and Ruby use to come to Union Hill church in Adams county Ohio , there was a great anointing on them . Always loved when they sang when he reached way down for me . People was shouting everywhere. I was just a teenager than I'm 60 now. Have never forgotten them.

Chased this down hearing about it on the Steven Colbert interview with Elvis Costello & T Bone Burnett. Thank you for posting! T Bone says, 'if you want to see the promise of America, listen to its music.' A true melting pot of the times, geography and race - where people listen to each other.
