Hello, I really liked some of the new features and I have some feedback if you'll have it. New timestamp box is MUCH more accurate when playing the comments, it starts and stops at the exact milliseconds at the timestamps the comment is placed. The comment box is a niche change but the older box, right below the video (or wavelengths if it's an audio file), was better placed for pacing because it was closer to the other UI aspects like play/pause button, IN/OUT buttons (which needs to be updated on keyboards in other languages, for example "I" shortcut doesn't work on Turkish keyboard unless Caps Lock is on). In the new UI, Play/Pause button is far left of the screen but the comment box is on the far right. Hovering mouse all over the screen each time a comment is to be made is a bit tiring. 0.75 is removed from playing speed, personally I'd favor that speed in most cases. Also overall speed of the file automatically resets when we press J instead of being the same throughout the video once we set it (also holding J would be better great instead of pressing J again to make it on/off). Left arrow that we were using to go back 0.500 second on audio files changed to 0.001 second which is unintuitive in audio files. Even though we can hold the button to go faster, going 0.500 with a single press was far more practical. Real Video/Audio time doesn't show on the file anymore when we are entering a comment (unless we hover the mouse on the slider). It needs to be back so we can have a real time comparison of the video/audio and the timestamp for the comments. Like separate timestamps needed for better control. These are all for now! @yukimurahonda - a response from our product team :) Hi, thanks for the feedback! "We reviewed your suggestions and agreed we will add the 0.75 speed and revert to the left and right keys, making 0.5-second jumps when playing audio files (it will still jump one frame at a time for video). We'll also review the comment time stamps in a future update. For the i/o shortcuts, you have a couple of different options instead. There are i/o buttons in the three-dot menu to the right of the tools bar. You can click to "pin" those buttons to the UI so they're always available. You can also drag the handles on the timeline at any time to set a range and/or directly edit the in and out points in the range timecode display. To switch between play and commenting, I'd recommend using either the space bar or "l" and "k" shortcuts for play/pause, which are faster than the physical button. If you have any more suggestions, please don't hesitate to let us know! We appreciate all feedback and are iterating quickly to ensure we have the best payer experience possible."

Hey! Thanks for your feedback. We understand that the ISG setup can feel complex-we strive to make it as accessible as possible! We’ve chosen FFMPEG and ImageMagick because they’re open-source (and hence free!), they're industry standards, and they ensure the ISG runs smoothly once set up. Unfortunately, we can’t bundle them directly with the ISG due to licensing restrictions, so they need to be installed separately using the method described in the video. This might change in future, but right now it’s the best way to get access to all the power offered by the ISG. We also support paid transcoding options like Vantage and MediaConvert, but FFMPEG is usually the most common choice given the ISG’s needs. It’s the most performant and cost-effective solution. We’ll continue to explore ways to improve ease of set-up! For now, once you’re up and running with the ISG, we hope that the power and simplicity we’ve brought to a complex operation support you in your hybrid workflows. If you have any other feedback, please let us know!

When someone is accessing a share link for an asset located on on prem storage, are they accessing the storage directly?

No, they will only access the proxy. To make original file available to a share user, you would need to transfer it to a cloud storage and enable "can download originals" on the share link.

Guys you're the best! My company is switching to iconik I'm amazed how smooth it works! ❤ The only thing that is missing for me is that I can not save "Share" options. Would be great to have this. Maybe even as a preset list that will use latest preset when you share a new file. Anyway, thank you a lot for what you're doing! Liked and subscribed!

Something that tripped me up early is that the menu icons on the far left of the Premiere Iconik panel did not appear because my window was too small. After a couple hours of frustration trying to understand they were I watched this video and finally figured out that I just had to open the panel wider! The icons disappear if the panel thinks there's not enough real estate for them.

Would iconik be a good solution for file storage such as "CAD files, word, excel and office files of the like?" We do some video but more office documents... much more!

Iconik was made especially for media, but yes, it can manage any type of files. About 35% off the assets managed in iconik are not media.You may not be able to preview some types of documents, but you can always add posters/custom thumbnails. As for storage, that's up to you. Iconik can manage all your existing storage locations. This could help you see files from everywhere, see how may duplicate files you have etc.

How does this work in conjunction with S3/Glacier? If I use an S3 bucket as the main storage source, do I need to create a separate bucket for archival and set the lifecycle policy on that bucket?

Thanks for the question Jeff. Yes, in order for iconik to know that an asset lives in the Glacier tier, it needs to be in a special Archive type storage. The Archive/Restore functionality will copy the files between the Archive bucket and the Online bucket using internal S3 commands, so it is pretty fast and doesn't cost anything as long as the buckets are in the same region. I got pretty interested in the transcription part. Would it be possible to make cuts based on the transcription? As the transcription knows the exact point of the words it could be possible to "cut" some parts. Like bad parts of the video, repeated words, and so on. This would help a lot in editing.

Hi Michel. Yes, if you select a word/words, iconik will mark that section in the player. You could add a timestamped comment, and an editor would know where to cut.

What about if all High Rez footage is on local NAS in office and you want to render out Master version remotely with High Rez footage? Is it possible to download the High Rez footage from home that is only used in Master Sequence with the Iconik?

Frame does a great job for review and approve, and now with our most recent update (you can draw on video in iconik too), we're pretty good too. But more than that, iconik offers much more freedom for storage and other features to manage media.
