I'm pretty confused by the use case of this technology. Aren't you spending much more time and money by going through the process of scanning every card individually? Seems faster and more efficient to just spread out 300 cards and take a few photos. Even if you could prove that an optimized listing improves sell-through or ASP, it would still have to overcome the huge costs of the scanner, AI software, this app, etc.
@paulcarlcards905016 сағат бұрын
For small or casual sellers, it’s probably best to just take the photos and not need all of the equipment and infrastructure. But if you’re growing a business then the time saved is unbeatable. Let’s say someone can list one six card lot per minute with their phone. In that same minute, I can scan ~40 cards. So if that person and I both spend an hour listing, they’ll have 60 mediocre listings listings to show for it whereas I’d have 300+ listings with 8 images each and perfect item specifics/SEO.

A quick review of his store shows for the past week, he sold a total of $351 worth of cards, with free shipping, and the vast majority in the $5-7 per lot range. Once ebay fees and postage costs are removed, maybe $200 left, then less cost of cards, leaves $1xx in profit for a WEEK of business on ebay. When labor is considered, he is making less than what he could working at McDonalds. If he had to pay the $300 a month to use his tool, along with other fees, krono card, accouting software etc, he basically covered his expenses, not his labor. So he would have worked to pay his expenses, and made $0 doing so. Count in his aquisition costs(expenses/labor) to get those cards and he definately lost money.

Your estimates are way off because I use OOS on my store. Just ended some of my sold listings so you can go see what I mean. When you sort by "ended recently" you'll see sales from months ago that weren't there before because they hadn't ended. I appreciate you checking it out though cuz I do the same thing, just gotta find out if the seller uses OOS or not before you pull all the data. I'm very open about my numbers, you can see them in most of my videos.

I'm someone who will look to get into Ebay selling when I retire in 5 years or so...I have hundreds of thousands of star cards (4k Jordans, 5k Barry Bonds, etc)...what I have trouble wrapping my head around from your discussion is how it can be more profitable to sell 100 cards at 34.99 than it is to sell 6 cards at 6.99? Sure you need to sell 5 of the 6-card lots to equal the 34.99 in income by selling one 100-card lot, but you also only sold 36 cards instead of 100 cards, so now you have 64 more cards to make 10 more 6-card lots. I know time is probably the biggest reason, but are there other reasons for creating a huge lot? For someone like me who will just be looking to sell my cards and in no hurry, and it won't my job, is there any reason for me to not sell in small lots or as single cards? I would probably start out by listing a bunch of cards of Jordan, Kobe, Ryan, Bonds, Jeter, Gretzky, Shaq, Bird, etc....I really will just be looking for how I can maximize my profit, and time won't be too much of a concern....

Great tool but at $300 a month that is a hard pass. I would have to be selling $10,000 a month in just lots. Looking at his eBay store I don't even see the volume to suggest a payback on this product.
@paulcarlcards9050Күн бұрын
Yeah, totally understand. My target market is the large sellers with 60k+ active listings or, ideally, multiple eBay stores and listing subscriptions. These types of sellers have saved $1000+ per month by switching to my software on top of getting the added benefit of automated lots. Definitely not a tool for everyone. Hopefully there were some good ideas and information that were useful to you though. Thanks for watching!
@4thturnsliderКүн бұрын
@@paulcarlcards9050 I love the product. I would definitely be able to list some of the 5 million cards that I have in inventory especially with duplication. Unfortunately this doesn't sort into the player lots in the 3200 count boxes I have stacked in storage. That's the real bottleneck. Not everybody has 20 full time employees like Burbank Cards. Will earmark definitely if their was a different price tier.

Great discussion. Only thing I disagree with is the importance of customer service to success. In this category, stuff trumps all. Before consignment sellers and buyer protections were a thing, one of ebay's most notorious card sellers would regularly auction off graded cards. There were threads everywhere about his trimmed cards, fakes, you name it. He regularly got negged for receiving checks and not shipping. Horrible feedback. Despite all that, his bgs/psa gems sold for market value just like the rest of us. Stuff trumps all. If it didn't, paul's high volume store would've worked better. That's not how it should be, but that's how it is.

For lots of 6 in an envelope, are you not shipping in top loaders?
@paulcarlcards9050Күн бұрын
3 cards in a penny sleeve then into a card saver. Do it twice for a 6 card lot and both go in a #10 envelope. Could probably use thicker toploaders and team bags instead if you wanted too, but I think card savers are best. I have a video in my channel on how I ship if you really wanna get into the weeds of it.

Pretty cool stuff! May need to rewatch to actually understand. Just a note to Paul. Not sure I enjoyed the “bashing” of card dealer Pro. It works fantastic for me, and at a much lower price point per month. Granted, it does not do the lot feature as of now. If your product is better, you do not need to discuss the others. Because I would bet CDP and/or Krono can add it, especially as the demand comes for it. Best of luck to him! And thanks for sharing also Ty!
@paulcarlcards9050Күн бұрын
@grindstone11 They’ve been using incorrect syntax on the item specifics for their users for years and still haven’t fixed it (it’s a simple fix too, akin to correcting a typo). I’m only poking at em so if they happen to see this then maybe they’ll finally fix it for guys like you. @paulcarlcards9050Күн бұрын
I use a cheap-o old used Epson DS-510 but I'll be upgrading to a Fujitsu since the scan speed has become a big bottleneck for me. Kronocard does have a built in scan feature on the desktop software and it's really nice. They don't do the lot portion on their own though, that's where my software comes in. If you don't have/want all the biz infrastructure around it, it'd honestly probably be better to just list em the "old fashioned way" with your phone or send em off to COMC.

I just hate sorting by team so I’m thinking about hiring someone to sort and handle my shipping. 2 years deep 7.5k sales but the least amount of sales like I’ve had lately have made me the most. Rather than making $0.05 per card selling for $1.25 fee shipping you make way more on each card with one listing and can use a better shipping method. Love this!

@@Little_diesel300 yeah, the sorting is brutal. I've been trying to source cards that are (mostly) already sorted to make life easier.
