Good afternoon Brenda. My first thought was this plant was self healing but I'm not sure if that's true. Lovely colour and I love the leaves. So it's not toxic to adult humans. Wow! I think it might be healing ❤

You got pretty lucky with this, I’m sure it’s very rare to see a baby snapper, I know I’ve never seen a baby one in person. They look like miniature dinosaurs, nature definitely built them to be rugged! I wonder how many on average hatch from a clutch of eggs? Hopefully he or she survived the night, I know the odds are stacked against it. Awesome find Brenda👍🏼😁🇺🇸

My grandmother called them "cymlins". The ones she would grow were cream colored, and flatter than yours, about 4" to 5" in diameter. They didn't have as strong a taste as regular yellow summer crookneck squash, but she cooked them the same way. Sliced and cooked slowly in melted butter or bacon fat, usually with some sliced onions.

Both snakes and frogs are very docile when you touch them. Maybe they know that you are gentle and will not harm them. Thanks for a wonderful marshland walking experience.🐍🐸
