Nice video. You CAN turn OFF the camera from the remote by solely pressing the MODE button for a few secs ('till you hear the turn off beep in the Gopro) you DO NOT need to press the on/off and mode buttons simultaneously on the remote!! To turn camera back on, turn remote on, wait 'till it starts and then quick click on the "record" button on the remote. Cheers from Mexico

I just bought one of these . is in the mail . didnt know about the dodgy usb C door . thanks for showing . I make kayaking videos ,I bought a telslin remote that say they are waterproof . anyone reading this . the teslin ones are not waterproof . lucky if they handle a heavy rain storm . dont buy if you're into watersports . I am going to take my chances with this remote now . Thanks for the heads up on the dodgy door

the only way that works for me is the grease! thanks a bunch. I try all the other recommendation with kitchen towel and max lens cover technic - it never worked!

Dear Sir, Very great video. But you are not warning people of the WATER PROOF ISSUE of these underwater remote controllers. THAT'S NOT FARE. MOST OF THE GOPRO REMOTE CONTROLLERS HAVE WATERPROOF ISSUES. Unless you are not using it underwater it's a great device as you explain in this video. I would like to invite you and all of you read and see my remarks to visit Amazon and read the (1 Star) REVIEWS about these so called "WATERPROOF Wireless Remote Control for Gopro Hero 8......" Thanks for the video. A question about powering the camera on via the remote. Do you have to manually power the camera on before you can record, or can you hit the record button on the remote and have it do a "quick capture" (turn the camera on and start recording)? For example, you turn the camera and remote on and pair them. You record a video, then stop it. Time passes and the camera turns itself off after 5, 10 minutes or whatever. Can you then just hit the record button on the remote and have it turn the camera on and record with that one press?

You’re welcome. It’s been a while since I used it, so I don’t recall if Quick Capture works like you stated. You can, however turn the camera back on once the camera has powered off.

I tried it and couldn’t get a one button capture to work until everything was powered on.
