Very impressive results, looks amazing. Personally i think old film restoration is better interpolated to 24 frames per second instead of higher rates as I feel like it falls into the uncanny valley when it starts looking like video instead of film.

Beautiful work. Ive been using Sony Vegas for many years but I never knew you could Stabilize in it. Only reason I haven't been using it lately is because I need to get a new computer for editing, I don't have space and specs good enough at the moment, but now Im really excited, since Ive shot some shaky super8 and been depressed not being able to stabilize it, except for the worst stabilizer on the Phone (Google Photos) Only thing I would do different would be to keep the original framerate or if I had to make it smoother, I'd go for 24, but I guess it's what you are looking for in the final results, as higher than 24 makes it look very TV like

@itsonlystars2 жыл бұрын
The 50fps increase makes the biggest difference, it gives everything a video texture that I think is really cool. My TV does this internally and it gives such a weird effect with old movies, but I love it
@coonyman10 Жыл бұрын
If you enjoy the effect, I won't tell you to turn it off. I'll just say that it betrays the intent of the original creators, and most implementations of this effect introduce junk visual data that can actually remove things that were supposed to be in the image in the first place. This is especially bad on animated films and the like. Keep using it if you love it but I would urge you to try turning it off for a while and see if you notice more in the image. Smooth looking video is not necessarily better video. That being said, the downsides are much less pronounced on live action video, so the implementation in this upload for example is more acceptable and can look quite nice at times. The problem arises when computers try to figure out how to add visual information where there wasn't any in the original source. Again, I am not trying to tell you to stop using the feature, I'm just saying give it a try by keeping it off for a solid week or 2 and see what you find out.

Intressant film. Den vita färgen var tydligen inte reflekterande som den är idag . Tur är att utvecklingen har gått framåt för de som målar linjer och pilar samt övriga vägbane anvisningar.

looks way worse with the stabilization because now it has weird shaking artifacts towards the sides as if you are on a rocky boat trip. Exposure correction however is very important indeed as well as colour balance. And also make sure your timeline is set correctly. You are having a lot of nasty ghosting between frames. Make sure your timeline settings match the input material and keep that in mind when you export your rendered videos. However... SKIP THE NOISE FILTER!! You only reduce details. And also don't use any of that stupid motion interpolation! Why would you want to remove the filmlook by making it look like video? >_>

Awesome work. Of course some parameters and steps depend on personal taste. Perhaps I might go a bit easier on the noise reduction and the frame rate is a tough one. I personally love the 24fps look, but footage shot at 16fps or 18fps is a tough decision. I personally would leave it as is, since smooth motion kills the film look IMHO. Your color correction is perfect BTW!

This series of early 1980s Agfa moviechrome (to 1986) has a mold and yellow calcium problem, so in Europe, one of two super 8 camera.film companies can treat it to remove both without affecting the image. At least the colors look good.

This video helped me a lot improving my super 8 scans in post! I'm also using NV and Film 9 and i'm impressed by the improvements. I was just wondering what settings you're using for sharpening? In Film9 I usually do not use the sharpening functionality because it often comes out too sharp. Also I do not really understand how to set the settings properly. In NV I usally put all values on 100%.
@s8ryder7972 жыл бұрын
I did the sharpening in both Sony Vegas (75-85%) and in the Neat Video plugin. In Neat I set it to maximum (250). I didn’t use the sharpening in Film9.
