Its amazing how relational memory works. I used to play this version of St Patricks day on repeat for a few months back in 2021, when I was talking to a girl that i was very misguidedly infatuated with. Just hearing this takes me back to the feelings of frustration, confusion, and sadness that I was awash with, during those months. This song's theme of time passing by without progress, closure and helplessness, spoke to me so much.

😂😂crazy bro I’m in the exact same boat. When you said “misguided feeling” I felt the accuracy. I fell in love with who I THOUGHT she was. I don’t want to be with her, but man thinking about the situation pisses me off.

I appreciate the way he sang here. Wish they just retook the same thing for Room for Squares or just give us an alternate version for the newer albums. Maybe the only thing worse in this version are the final few lines which really made an impact in the RFS version.

Still amazed at his song writing skills.. the chord progression in this song is incredible, and super complex. This was one of the first songs that I truly challenged myself with learning on guitar.. had to learn all about stretch chords.
