Allan, congratulations on the exclusive model (really a very rare choice!!) and the successful first flight. That's one of the weirdest biplanes I've ever seen (but I like the model). Hats off to you for pulling off such a project and then mastering the first flight so bravely. Chapeau !

Wow! Very nice model and congrats on a very successful maiden. I've never seen nor heard of this plane and will now have to do some research to figure how the heck to tail section is attached.

Always good to see people trying to do things differently. There are always lessons for us all as a result. In a normal airplane, the wing itself does a lot to disrupt the strong rotational component of the air behind a propeller. In some designs, that strong rotational element dramatically effects the flight characteristics of the airplane. In this case, not only is there very little to disrupt that rotational component, but the tails surfaces themselves are at least reasonably far back to boot. I would expect this to lead to Engine power dependent forces... mostly in roll, some in yaw, and maybe even some in pitch. Curious to hear from the pilot flying how much he felt those forces... how much differently the plane flew. This is the largest model I have seen with the basic structural support through the center of the motor idea. Nice looking bird. Well done!

so the prop shaft is hollow and a bar goes through it to hold the back end on? Great project, trying to figure out how you even did it

Did you have to set the prop angle a few degrees down and to the right?😀 Very unique plane, so cool.

Incredible modeling. Lots of lift out there. The clouds were epic. What a fantastic job making the design work. It seemed to prove out the mid propeller as efficient. Just a wonderful thing to watch. Congratulations on a fabulous build and maiden flight. Put it up now? It should be on display somewhere. Preferably the builder's home🙂

I as well hadn't been aware of such a strange aircraft. Never knew they could use a ring gear arrangement to power a plane,especially back then. I wouldn't want to bail out with that prop position! Beautiful model!

Needs at least 50% differential on the ailerons.
@johnnichol94126 ай бұрын
Toss out the rudder then?
@stewartgrant98326 ай бұрын
@@johnnichol9412 Differential aileron is more up aileron than down aileron to reduce down going aileron drag. It's not getting rid of the rudder.
@johnnichol94126 ай бұрын
@@stewartgrant9832 Differential is more of one that the other either up or down, the theory being that down creates more drag hence adverse yaw, what is the rudder for? Perhaps yaw!
@stewartgrant98326 ай бұрын
@@johnnichol9412 There's no point using more rudder to combat adverse yaw when you can reduce adverse yaw with differential. The more rudder you use the more overall drag you create as with all controls. I'm not saying don't use rudder in a coordinated fashion.

Beautiful. Main float could use a little helium, maybe? Adverse yaw while banking must keep you honest with rudder. Neat aircraft, neat design, neat construction. Well done.
