What do you mean which fender tags to read? Each tag goes to each vehicle and are not interchangeable. If you wish to "save the RT" then you need to be working on the RT not this car. I am not a purist by any stretch but the RT has an RT VIN, this car you are working on does not. Now if you are thinking of swapping the dash with the VIN, well there are some significant legal issues there. There are VIN numbers stamped on the the radiator core support and left rear trunk gutter.
@Millersmopars5 ай бұрын
I understand what you’re saying at the same time I never once said I was switching the vin numbers on any car, I using 3 cars to build one makes it hard to determine which fender tag to read. It was an honest statement. Thanks for your support.

@@MH-rb7lp what I’m doing to this car is well documented, nothing about it is original. The body numbers or sequence numbers you speak of on the radiator support, isn’t going to match the one on the trunk drip well. A couple of comments, first you need to get the frame sorted out before cutting the floors out. The bracing you put in are not going to stop the body from sagging or perhaps twisting. I never use bracing, rather I ensure that the frame rails are solid, then put the car onto jack stands (on the frame rails), then do the floor. If you are doing sections of the floor then do one section at a time. Reference the lead, I am assuming you are talking about for the panel seams (quarter meets the roof and rocker, etc.). If so then weld those seams together well, then make a piece of sheet metal to bridge the gap and weld that in (use weld through primer on the back side). You can then body work those areas and they will never crack. Another method is to use All Metal to fill those areas after they are spot welded well. I noticed your Special Forces banner, what group were you in?
@Millersmopars6 ай бұрын
The crossmember, floor were rusted so bad the car had already started to twist inwards on the passenger side. I have the car squared up and supported on the frame rails to build it front to back. I was talking about the body seems and that is a great idea, I hadn’t thought about doing it that way. The Special Forces Banner was my father in laws. He was special forces in Vietnam. It was hung in my shop after his passing to honor him and his service. Thanks for the advice, and thanks for the support. I will definitely use sheet metal over the seems that is a great idea.

@@MH-rb7lp the original idea for the build was a 69 Coronet R/T I bought a few years ago. It had been cut up so bad by a guy selling parts off it for over the years there is nothing left but outer rockers that are usable. The inner quarters where the rear windows go were cut out the roof was cut so bad that only a couple inches held it on to the quarter panels. And what was there for the roof looked like Swiss cheese. The quarter panels were cut off the car and the back panel was cut in half between the tail lights. The 4 speed hump was cut out tog the car, the rest of the floor was rusted away. The torsion bar crossmember was cut out where the torsion bars went. One frame rail was cut for some reason. The dash frame was left the ended tag was still in place and I actually located the original doors off the car. I then bought this car which is a 440 318 car and a 4door rear clip I plan to build the car out of all 3 using as much of the R/T as I can. I joined the army in 1985 was in the 75th Ranger Regiment stationed at Ft Benning. I should’ve stayed in and retired but hind sight is 20/20. Thank you for your service.

@@Millersmopars Thats quite a journey but I completely understand where you are coming from. That said you should quite a few parts to choose from in order to make this a reality. Rangers lead the way!!! lol I joined in 78 and spent some time in various units and then went to the 82nd from which I left and went to SFQC then on to 1st SFG where I spent the rest of my career retiring as a CW3. It was a good run but then when I knew I was going to retire I bought a basket case 70 Challenger RT to build followed by a 73 Cuda, then a 70 Roadrunner, then a 68 FB Cuda... lol it became a bit of an addiction... Good luck and stay in the fight!

@@MH-rb7lp I thought I had a lot of Mopars, that’s quite the list. I do this for the love of these cars. I work 60-70 hrs a week and work on cars just on the weekends. I’m definitely in it for the long haul, in fact I’m looking for the next one to start after this one done lol

Awesome job 😊 My friend did a similar thing a few years ago he sectioned his blue 1968 R/T Coronet You sure do have some nice flats roads down there 😊 up here it’s Canadian Shield rock vast forest and wetlands. Southwestern Ontario is very very flat though, it was for years the Tobacco growing region in Ontario. Very nice 68 you have there

Did he use a 4 door rear clip too? I’ve helped section cars before but we had a frame machine to help measure the cars out on. Unfortunately that was destroyed in a shop fire several years ago. I’ve never tried to go from a 4 door to a 2 door. The roads in the Midwest are pretty flat for the most part, in Iowa we grow a lot of corn. Lol Thanks for the compliment on my 68 R/T it’s holding up well for a car that was restored 24 years ago. It has brought a lot of good family time for the last 40 years. I’m glad you enjoyed my video and thanks for the support

Were making up for the last 2 dry years of drought with rain almost daily. Had to mow twice in one week! I have a JD D140 48" cut. Pretty easy to service! I use JD parts I pick up from Lowes. Will there be a re-issue of the original ESP album from 1984?

Nice little Tractor 😊 It’s pretty much grass cutting time up here in Ontario Canada , I will be getting my mower out in the next couple of days. Not my favourite chore by a long shot lol. Good video!

I’m with you it’s not my favorite chore either. I know some people that love to mow but I’m not one of them. I’m glad you liked the video thanks for the support.
