Hi. When I am finished editing in dynamic link with after effects, I come back to Premier Pro and I cannot access the raw file anymore. It’s just one big, long linked comp and Premier premiere pro now. It seems to only have kept the proxy file. Also, should you color grade with the lut like before you do after effects?

The time remapping situation is a case of the Comp is say 6 seconds long, but all layers end at 6seconds, so 5.24. On 6.00 everything has vanished. It's a bit silly but not a bug. I work around it the same as you but another way would be to slide the ending layers back a bit, extend and then return into place, so the layers extend beyond the comp end.

Thanks for the explanation! I know it’s intentional, but I wanted to add a bit of flair (in hopes of getting more clicks, I know I’m a bit of a show-off sometimes) anyway. Your advice is great, and I’ll definitely try it next time. The most important takeaway, if it wasn’t clear, is that this is happening only with Pre-Comps.

Most annoying: duplicate footage or comp, or replace footage by holdong alt: every property i untwirled is in-twirld. How is that cslled? Untwirld? Right?

Thanks for the comment! For duplicating comps you have this free script: www.vdodna.com/blog/true-layer-duplicator-script-for-after-effects/ I can't seem to reproduce the twirling properties when I use alt/opt to replace a footage. Try to reset your preferences file

Not necessarily, it just mean you can use your HD to play cached frames (so fast separate SSD will help the most)

Cinema 4D Lite is an extremely user friendly software. Unlike AE, its user interface doesn't lag. It's a pleasure to work with C4D Lite for 3D modeling and animation. The only issue is the long rendering times. But there are ways to sacrifice a little quality and still achieve good results, faster. I wish AE could include a real-time 3D renderer like Eevee that we find in Blender.

Creating, editing, and using these templates has been a nightmare. The "Essential Graphics" window doesn't even exist in Premiere Pro. I can't change anything about my template now. I've had to re-create my template six times and every time it took 2-3 hours to figure out when just building it from scratch takes 1 hour.

Thanks for sharing your frustration with me. I’m sorry to hear that. The essential graphics panel in Premiere Pro has been renamed ‘Properties’ and all its attributes have been kept. As for the rest of your feedback, I suggest sharing it with Adobe so they can improve what needs to be fixed.

@@SternFX Yeah, it's frustrating. Here I am two weeks later still trying to simply add a logo to an existing MOGRT so I can reuse it. I've had to rebuild it over 30 times now. Doing Adobe tutorials has got to be frustrating since they change so much by the time you can release the video. Thx for sharing your knowledge.

I found a workaround, which is to customize the MOGRT in Premiere Pro and add whatever effects and clips you want to separate tracks then save the project somewhere as a starter.

What if the comp is graphics-heavy... do you still get the same kind of performance?

There might be some performance improvement but I didn't notice any. Tested in my graphics heavy project. But that's not really the focus here, the main thing is your preview isn't limited by ram size anymore, but by disk cache size. You could work on 1 part of the comp and have the other part still cached so AE won't have to re-preview that part at all because it will pull straight from disk cache.

I've been using AE long enough to remember when they "borrowed" RAM preview from Puffin Designs' Commotion. I think that was version 4.0? It's taken a glacially long time to get to this. I'm glad to see it.

@@seanwilson7098 I am confused by this response. Nodes are great for compositing (Shake, Fusion, Natron, Nuke, etc.), but as clunky and creaky as AE is, it's still used by thousands (tens of thousands?) of people so who is "we all"?
