There is no point in doing this. It is a "defect". It is a problem but it is not its current technical priority.

This is not a high elbow catch. This is a faked high elbow catch! Seriously, in the before he was swimming better and for sure faster. Forcing a high elbow catch on someone just doesnt work, because it happens automatically if you have the necessary shoulder mobility. If you try very actively to get your eblow up, you end like this with bad rhythm and wrong muscle recruitment. The issue here is that the catch (even in hip driven freestyle) already starts when still lying on your side, this requires a very high level of shoulder mobility. If you would put him into this correct rhythm the faked high elbow would disappear because this swimmer doesnt have the required mobility. You can also spot the fakiness on the shoulder blade. Just look at this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4uakI2Zat2Ee9k, thats what a real non faked high elbow looks like.

Thé catch is better in the second for sure but yes, he is slower ! It s a drill to feel water. Swim slow before faster. (It s not a perfect catch in your link ?)

My side kick is related to my body rotation (large amplitude). If I increase my stroke rate (and my speed !), I reduce my stroke length, I will not reach 90 degrees so my kicks will be less sideways (it's a consequence exactly like arms balance the legs in running). This pace is easy for me ;-)

I see Florian Wellbrock is opening only one of his palms - right one. Should we open up/rotate only one palm or both?
@TheFRENCHSwimCoach
@TheFRENCHSwimCoach 16 күн бұрын
It is possible for both but it is important to do it on the hand just before the inhalation especially if we are in 2 times because we tend to engage the arm less and therefore to do the catch less well

@@TheFRENCHSwimCoach as you say, I use more kick to keep the speed but also to keep my hips closer to the surface. My breathing, is not an issue because I use snorkel, but the funny thing is that as a result, I feel I don't have to pull my face to high to breath(when I'm not using one)...I don't know if that makes sense. This movement has helped me, to have a better rithm throughout the stroke. I it helps a lot with the recovery. Have a nice day
