Shouldn't Camellias be planted in a more acidic soil, like Kanuma?
@WazakuraJapan
@WazakuraJapan Ай бұрын
Thank you very muc for your message. If you can create an environment where Kanuma soil doesn't dry out too much, that would be ideal. However, using only Kanuma soil tends to dry out excessively. Given the nature of camellias, we recommend Akadama soil, as it retains moisture well while allowing you to supplement the soil nutrients with fertilizer.

Okay I'm going to go ahead and say it out loud.... They call it an oil Stone because you're supposed to use it with oil, not water. Its important to the honing operation. Thanks for a very good video.

They are all whetstone. Oil stone just uses oil you lubricate vs water. I agree that it shouldn't be called an oil stone is soaking in water. They should call it a whetstone or sharpening stone. Whether you use oil or water, is up to the user.

I see a lot of people cut off branches and leave half of it still there to do this but my question is can I do this with a whole branch instead of cutting it

I found this video very interesting and informative, I have two camellias and I think I will do the same procedure as soon as they finish flowering. for the soil I know that kanuma is often used for camellias or azaleas, what do you think? I would like to know your opinion on this. Thank you so much for making this video, it was just what I needed!

Kanuma can used for Satsuki Azalea and other common Azalea bonsai, however it might lacks a little in water retention capacity needed for this type of tree.

A lot of information very well explained as always thank you very much although the music is a bit loud an repetitive and can become annoying. It could be better with only the ambient sounds of the tools, the pot and your explanations. More asmr thing, but that's just my opinion.

When he says it’s important to first bend the tree and let’s go, he means that you put the wire on in the direction you are twisting the tree. So the wire should be getting tighter and not looser

I know that it takes 3 years until you can wire a bonsai from seed, but is the time the same as that of a bonsai propagated from a real tree branch cutting?
@WazakuraJapan
@WazakuraJapan 9 ай бұрын
Dear @Moaiguy Sorry for late reply. Even cutting branch need to be firmly rooted before they can be wired, so, It is better to leave them for two to three years.

Hi, is shari make the trunk couldnt be thick?
@WazakuraJapan
@WazakuraJapan 11 ай бұрын
HI there, Yes, bonsai trees can still grow and stay healthy even with shari techniques. Shari is when parts of the bark are purposely removed from the trunk and branches to create a weathered, aged look. It's done to imitate the effects of aging or natural damage. Careful and precise shari won't harm the tree's overall health. The living parts of the tree, like the roots, branches, and some bark, will keep supporting its growth and well-being.

@@WazakuraJapan is it effect the grow rate? I have intention to shari my juniper, but i still want to see it grow thicker trunk. Is it posible?
@WazakuraJapan
@WazakuraJapan 11 ай бұрын
@@TheRoadrunner0610 The presence of Shari on the trunks poses no issue. However, it is important to note that when the bonsai does not have a Shari, its trunk tends to thicken more rapidly. On the other hand, once a Shari is created, the dead part of the trunk will not experience further growth.
