Ohh so that's what that duel thing is, I started playing tf2 somewhat recently so have only heard stories from veterans about some forgotten gamemodes like passtime, arena etc that are apprently not even playable anymore which is a shame (same thing seems to have happened with the VS Saxton gamemode too now 😔). I once got a duel invitation in one of my matches, i thought that accepting it would transport me to a seperate lobby with just that player and i didn't want to abondon the match so i declined lol 😅.
@purpleplanets2 ай бұрын
That's so sad. I think it's weirdly upsetting how due to the "new" way of quickplay these gamemodes go unexplored. Arena, Passtime, Manpower, or even things like specail delivery on the map Doomsday, some of these ofcourse were better than others, but at the end of the day it was more ways to play a already good game. It's like taking races out of gta5, it might not be the full game you are removing, yet it is that extra something that makes the game feel more alive.

@thosebloodybadgers84993 ай бұрын
I'm just saying, a lot of these points don't exactly live up to scrutiny. Zelda is very much a different game each entry. So is Final Fantasy and Pokemon and what have you. That's kind of part of those respective series' identities - each one is a standalone, each one is some manner of change to the formula bound only by some loose narrative connections. Meanwhile, can you say that Payday has changed as drastically since the first entry? Call of Duty? Battlefield? Is it a product of the times? Or a matter of their actual identities having a more concrete grounding that has only received refurbishings over the years? Ultimately, the AAA market may look stale, I myself would argue that it is, but in specifically painting that impression over the entirety of the game industry, it loses so much of that exact nebulous "originality". The indie scene strives, continually giving new and upcoming creators the tools and the stage to realize incredible projects. Could a game like Rain World, Peaks of Yore, Ultrakill or Franzen exist "back in the good old days"? Maybe, but none of them do. They exist now. This deserves recognition, in my eyes, far more than the failures of big studios.
@purpleplanets3 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks for the comment! I tend to agree/disagree with your view on the changes within, for example, Zelda. Yes, undoubtedly, things have changed quite severely over time, especially in Art/Mechanics; however, the core of most of these games remains, acting as the "glue" that keeps them interconnected. Even in games like Zelda's Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, which are the most opposite back-to-back games within the franchise, you can still find that Zelda core. Musically, there is a focus on the perfect fifth; graphically, there is no doubt that everyone who has seen one or the other "Link" can still say, "That’s Link!" while seeing the other. Within the narrative, there are fundamentals in every Zelda game that shine through: the coming of age of a hero. So, even though parts change, I would argue that the majority stays the same within these games. You mentioned many, but let’s take Battlefield. Battlefield has changed its core significantly. The self-identity, that I personally, but I'd assume most people think of when talking about the Battlefield franchise, is being "just another soldier in the field." This was unique to the Battlefield franchise to an extent, being one of the first games to have vehicular combat and a focus on these huge open battlefields. The introduction of these "Hero classes" destroyed this idea of being just another soul. They made you someone, they made you a hero, someone with a background; this is a bigger step against what the game stood for. And as a side note, if you show someone a BF3 character, they could probably even name the class, yet if you show one of these hero classes, I don’t think most people will know it is even from this game, as they could be from any other FPS out there. Mechanically, the game changed in much more drastic ways than this narrative one. Squads, another big part of the core of Battlefield games, were, to an extent, ruined on release (although now there has been some attention given to it), voice chat, scoreboard, chat, unique loadouts, things that were part of the core regressed to, as stated in the video, either not being a thing or, and sometimes even worse, they were made not fun. The point I was making was specifically directed at AAA markets, not the indie developers, whom I've specifically said still show us that games are still art. So, I completely agree with you on that front. And there is something to be said for not constantly talking about these big companies but also talking about these indie companies; funnily enough, this was my thought exactly when I spoke about Deep Rock Galactic. But failing to mention bad things in light of wanting to stay positive is not something that can bring forth change. Although, once again, yes, sometimes folks like me with a more cynical outlook should stop to smell the roses from time to time a little bit more! At the end of the day, it’s all opinions nonetheless, and I think we are closer to each other in our beliefs than might meet the eye here in the comment section. But once again, thank you for commenting!

@@dusttalesans4406 I am aware of this, and as of now there are some "plans" (without abusing/cheating the system) to gain some of these. As of now the KZbin achievements remain a sad truth, somewhere in my maybe somewhat naif brain I hope there will be a work around; who knows, maybe if we become a big youtube channel? haha. I think also that these achievements are way out there in the future.
