@@ChadAdams-qm3hs Hi Chad, from what I have noticed, you have to vary your speeds to find what they want on any given day, last Sat 3.0 was the sweet spot, then this Sat seemed 3.2-3.3 was the sweet spot. When the fish are really biting, I have gone up to 4 mph. Also, understand the speed range of the spoons you are pulling, in general the smaller the spoon the slower the speed and the larger the faster. Good luck!

@@fishscale415 Hi fishscale, Lamiglass and Okuma rods and Abu Garcia reels, 5500LC is a good reel for trout trolling. For the most part I use light action or extra light action rods and level wind reels with line counters. I don't spend a lot of money on my rod reel combos b/c I'm hard on gear, but I like long rods for trolling like 7ft+ and the Lamiglass are really nice. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@drewanic90 Hi Drew, I have not had it in the Bay or Ocean yet, but only because I have been focused on trout, I will get it in the SF Bay for Halibut, but not the ocean, not ocean worthy IMO. If you want a aluminum boat for Bay and Ocean get at 20ft min with off shore bracket so the motor is off the transom. Gone Fishing Marine has a brand new Duckworth 20ft Navigator in their showroom right now that is beautiful and fully equipped with 150HP Yamaha and a kicker motor, plus downrigger and electronics, it's ready to go! Let's Gooooo!

I run the same downriggers as you and need to get deep right now for fish in areas like Folsom & Berryessa. I prefer a fast troll over slow. What size downrigger weight are you using when trolling deep and fast? I have a few pancake weights and they give me hell when I am 50+ feet deep and my boat rolls from a wakeboard boat wake. The weights will drift side to side so much that the downrigger cables get tangled. Thinking about getting cannonball weights and see if they eliminate the drift.

No problem keeping fish, that’s mostly why we do fish, something to eat. I normally fish for Kokanee or Kings in Orovile both Lake and River. Seldom do we release fish. Nice video, glad you had some action.
