if yer carriage is less than 40 studs then yer doin it wrong, the length should be five times the height. So a 8 stud high should be 40 long to be in proportion, engines do their own thing. Thats why all these teeny passenger carriages look off with their tiny 28 or 32 studs, get forty four to look reyt. Remember to include the 3 studs for the wheels and baseplate.

counter point, you arnt really a collector per say and figures your moaning over which have higher values are valued higher for actual collectors who love lego more then you ever will and understand values also. Though some figures like mr gold and say revan from sw theme wont ever be remade again therefore thats where value comes from as poly bag is no longer made and set is retired.
@MayoHosko22 күн бұрын
i know i'm not a collector because i'm a builder and LEGO is meant for building. the only reason there are collectors of LEGO particularly minfigs in the first place is because licensed themes have concepts of builds and figs from popular movies and TV shows, or because of nostalgia for old LEGO adults had as children. if people want to spend money on those expensive figs thats their choice but they have to realise the market is inflated from hype
@ravenspurplebeats541222 күн бұрын
@@MayoHosko i have modular's & quite few building displays , some lego sets and in some themes like sw i collect mostly figures due to space issues but prices of some figures or sets is due to what some call "flippers" and then also "collectors" as collectors also set price price themselfs when it comes to buying off flippers but this is common in most collection hobbys also not just lego.

Value is a subjective to the individual for starters. Look at say baseball cards as a different example. People will spend a bunch of money on a card that think people spending a ton on a Lego figure are crazy and vice versa. You are just talking about supply and demand which applies to everything.
@MayoHosko22 күн бұрын
absolutely its subjective and the subjectivity begins when sellers of all collectables throw out random prices for what they're selling. then supply and demand dictates the market value but the market value starts with subjective prices. there are people who find acceptable what others find expensive. baseball cards is a good example because we all know about the baseball card crash of the early 2000s

I don't know if overrated is the right word, I think it's more "over-valued". And I think it's an issue with Lego in general, not just minifigures. Think about it: a set comes out in 1994, and it sells for $40. Someone buys it, puts it on a shelf in the basement, and forgets about it for 30 years. Today, they pull it out, put it on ebay or bricklink, and someone buys it for $600 because it's still sealed in the original box. Why? What are you going to do with that? You're not going to open it; if you pay that much for a sealed box, you're not about to devalue it by opening the box. You're never gonna build it or play with it or get any use out of it besides hoping that some day some fool pays more than $600 to get it from you. All you've done is pay $600 for a picture of a Lego set. It's the same deal with all the display sets and modular cities I see everywhere. Okay, you've paid $800 for the Eiffel Tower, and now it's going to sit here forever and hopefully never get bumped into. You've got a collection of big Technic cars that will sit on the wall and look very nearly like actual cars. And what are you going to do with them? Dust them every month? Fun... Lego sold a set that was literally just a shoe, for heck's sake. One shoe. And Lego city displays people have in their basements, all too often it's little more than a table where they've put all their modular buildings together, along with some other big buildings that have come out recently. It's just a bunch of sets on display pretending to be something fun. Lego is, in my opinion, for making cool things to play with.
@MayoHosko22 күн бұрын
couldn't have said better myself. That’s why i'm a MOC builder. i laugh at people who find building sets is creative. those people don't have the creativity to build MOCs. i deliberately don't watch city builders who just put modulars on their table and call it a day
@TheOtherGuys222 күн бұрын
@@MayoHosko Yeah, exactly. I mean, I totally understand that the modular buildings are awesome. I own several of them myself. But I've seen them all before. And I've seen all the Star Wars UCS sets too, so even though they are awesome, if that's all you've got... you're kinda just showing off how much money you've spent.

Try working all day as a designer then wanting to build after & design even more 😆. I can’t complain cause it’s my passion but burnout can happen. I just don’t like having to order parts from multiple places. That holds me back cause I can’t stand doing that. I wish you could get all the parts you need in one spot.

I know ypu wont see this but i goto say lego had a downgrande in there train models like the new pasanger train is just ugly i pefer the befor 2000s era lego trains they have a mix of realisam an creativity

When the LEGO train theme ended in 2004, when LEGO world city became LEGO city in 2005 and when RC replaced 9volt in 2006, that’s where I saw the massive downgrade in LEGO trains. The mid 2000s changed the LEGO group forever
