the builds were so mindblowing because some of them were based on real diesels and the trackside buildings were highly detailed to compliment the details of the trains themselves

this was one of the tightest LEGO train layouts i've seen at a convention yet. only rivalled by the big train layout at Brickworld Chicago imo

if yer carriage is less than 40 studs then yer doin it wrong, the length should be five times the height. So a 8 stud high should be 40 long to be in proportion, engines do their own thing. Thats why all these teeny passenger carriages look off with their tiny 28 or 32 studs, get forty four to look reyt. Remember to include the 3 studs for the wheels and baseplate.

you can let the builders know that when you see them at conventions, proportions are vital for scale models
