How much should a job like this cost. There’s a gentleman asking for 176. (Tune up and gasket cover)

it really depends where you are, for example where i am in Canada, a dealership would charge probably $180 labor (1 hour) and then $50 more for the spark plugs, plus tax...

@bloodyKnucklesGarage24 күн бұрын
yup same size, but the lower one might need to be rotated or put on the same side as the tab (to make it smaller) to fit, then can turn it once it's through

thanks for making the video... I usually just to straight to the angle grinder. It's just faster lol.. I'm doing this tomorrow. The rears were awful, I did them today. The nut clips rusted and broke off, so I had to take the wheel well covers out and cut the bolts with a sawzall, narrowly avoiding the wire harnesses.

It seems this H3 hammer with un dsigned GM engineers it's installed with cheep GM collections using Silly imported chaineez engine , even though the engine is small but the engine bay is still not enough to cover the problems.. GM added alot of alterationsons for adjeusting outside fittingsjust to force install this silly designed engine its too hard n bloody jobe always leaky valves leaky cyl heads and for dismental any parts certains bolts is hard to reach by hand.. too hard to work on it
@bloodyKnucklesGarage29 күн бұрын
it seems to me that GM had a vehicle in mind, designed it, and thought about the engine last and threw in whatever they were already producing in other vehicles, even though it was a terrible match. a couple years later they brought out the Alpha v8 but by then sales were really low and it was too late. My 2c anyway.. :)

it wasn't too bad, now that i know how, that's always the trick ;) do it once, then it gets easier. Yes also did the other side as well. in hindsight i wish i would have sprayed bedliner or paint on the metal parts before installing them, 2 days later they started to look rusty

Your key will work again if u take the bcm module out and clean it with alcohol and a toothbrush. I mean thoroughly ckean the whole green circuit board, ckeannannarea and wipe it doen and clean under the big square terminals. Its located behind the passenger side kick panel, under the dashboard right in front of the door and takes literally 20 seconds to remove. Its called the body control module. And if u take a light piece of sandpaper to the copper prongs (both sides of the prongs) of the 2 big square connectors, so u can make good contact when u put it back tigether. U gotta really clean the circuit board and make sure theres none of that white crap on it. Its mold.. But i promise this is the fix. It wirks with every hummer that has a key fob not working. The cause is the sunroof. The right front drain is positioned directly above it and when the sunroof leaks, it soaks the damn thing and mild grows on it over time. This fixes the key fob problem and the tire pressure sensor problem 99.9999999999% of the time. Ive never seen it NOT fix the problem... but i just say 99.9999 percent bcus nothing on earth is 100%

I shall be doing this on the weekend! Thank you for the advice, considering how bad my drains were plugged this is entirely possible

Ive seen in alot of your videos that your ordering everything from Rock Auto. How are you finding the quality of the parts? I would have never have thought to go through them for the timing chains. Is it all good stuff?
@bloodyKnucklesGarage2 ай бұрын
it depends what you get and what manufacturer, they carry a lot of oem GM/AC Delco parts as well, although they tend to be more expensive than alternatives. I've been buying through there for many years now, partly because i'm in Canada and auto parts are $$$ but even after conversion and shipping fees, rockauto comes in lower almost every time, by a lot

@bloodyKnucklesGarage2 ай бұрын
I actually didn't have a specific reason but i bought this a few months ago at 300,000km and obvious signs it's been beaten to death, so i figured to be on the safe side i would just do it since i had to replace the leaking valve cover seals anyway

@@bloodyKnucklesGarage right on man. Thanks for getting back to me! My wife's has about 260,000 kms. Looks like it's been well taken care of. One morning I went to start it up and I thought I heard what sounded like timing chain slap but it went away after 3 seconds or so and hasn't done it since. I'm a HD mechanic by trade so q job that big doesn't scare me none. Glad I got to see all that was involved with your video though. There seems to be alot of support for these on you tube.
@bloodyKnucklesGarage2 ай бұрын
it's definitely a good community, the thing with a Hummer is you either really like them, or not at all, and to still be driving one 15-20 years after it was made shows some dedication if you do mechanic stuff already you'd be fine for sure, the hardest part was intake manifold, trying to figure out how to get to those little bolts. Take off alternator and slide arm in from the side, you can get a socket and extension on them, and other arm puts ratchet on the end
@user-rg7xz7tl4h16 күн бұрын
I bought one . Wasn’t running , overhauled almost everything. Put. Ack together and it runs for 15 min then dies . Runs good but dies after 15 min every time . Is it Timing ?

Thanks for the fix. IT worked very well for me. I substituted 1 1/2 in hanger bolt/wood screws because in looking for something at the hardware store that was wooden dowel-like, it not only was, but has the metal threads so it can't slide out of the stretch fabric. So I tried it, and voila. Thanks again.👍
@bloodyKnucklesGarage2 ай бұрын
oh great idea! The threads would help it stay put for sure. glad it worked out
@mistermasada18292 ай бұрын
You can also put some silicone or gasket maker around the three clips that hold the hood “louver” where they come through the hood. Water will make its way through and get under the coil pack causing rust on the spark plug.

Hey how did you get the front part of the headliner off? About to do this to mine and would love to properly do it without breaking anything
@bloodyKnucklesGarage2 ай бұрын
I had to take off the sunvisors and the holysh*t handles, and then pull some of the plastic molding off, like around where sunroof is. the front headliner after that just kind of sags down. once the sunvisors are off you'll kind of see how it works, there's not much holding it up, oh and the a-pillars. goodluck!
@jodygrady97333 ай бұрын
Definitely do the intake manifold gaskets too since it's out so you don't have to take it out again. I hope to never have to do mine. Messing with the starter through the fender well was enough fun for me.
