Can this reel be casted about 50 yards from jetty rocks? I usually use a Penn senator 4/0 and I can cast it about that distance but I want to upgrade to the VISX.

Yeah, you can do it. I cast my 12 VISX all the time on my UC RCX80 Raptor.Check out Cal's reels, they can make any Penn a thousand time better.

One of the best things I've bought are treble hook covers for all my gear. If any hook in your gear is going to get you it will be the treble hook. I use a similar rig over in the north east but instead of a treble hook I just use a single stinger hook
