I will be making Regency stays for the first time. I am interested in cord rather than more rigid stays. What did you use for the cording and where would one get it? I think it turned out beautifully.

Hello I’m going to attempt this! What size grommets did you use? Also what is the width of your bias tape? Thank youuu for this sew along!

I love the way the stays turned out. You made it look easy to. Have you done this pattern with the laces in the front and can this type of stay replace a modern wire bra?
@EmL-kg5gn4 ай бұрын
This is a support garment so it can definitely replace a modern bra! The only catch is that it might not work with every outfit. These are designed for the fashions of their time, just like how there’s bras that suit certain kinds of outfits and not others. So in the same way that there’s outfits that don’t look right if you wear a sports bra this might not work with everything you want to wear. The other thing to keep in mind is that they’re not meant to be worn against the skin. They would’ve worn underwear (basically a linen dress) underneath to protect the stays from the skin’s oils and reduce the need for cleaning

Even though I am very much not a Regency person, I really enjoyed watching your process and notes on the Regency petticoat. I have one in my WIP box and probably should finish it soon... Also your baby void is sooooooo cute!!

do i have to hand sew this or can i achieve the same look with a sewing machine? im new to sewing and i can barely hand sew

You can look at other videos using a sewing machine.

Would the front digging in be helped by a thinner busk? That way it could sit more in between your breasts rather than on top of them and take pressure off of the bottom of the stays like you mentioned?
@OldMotherLogo3 күн бұрын
I think the problem at the bottom is more about the length of it and where it hits, especially when you sit.

You are so pretty and that stay is beautiful! I just made two short stays, one I ended up making as a dress by adding a skirt and another that I added a few inches to the bottom as I’m long waisted. It’s my favorite bodice pattern right now, I wanna make a white one with embroider next.

It’s beautiful! Is the gap in the back supposed to be so wide? I’ve never made one so want to know before I get started
@OldMotherLogo3 күн бұрын
That depends. Some people prefer less of a gap but just make sure that you don’t make it too narrow or else you may not be able to snug it down if the fabric stretches a bit or you lose any weight.
@alyssasweetypie Жыл бұрын
Wouldnt the wrinkling in the back and the problem in the front be fixed by shortening the bottom of the stays by a few centimeters to a half inch? I have a high waist as well and feel stays would be better than a full torso corset and it seems to me( with no experience) that making it a bit shorter might help....?

I was thinking the same thing - finding exactly the right length.

this is just adorable....I just got this pattern, myself. Looks like you didn't use interfacing between the layers? I am finding the actual pattern instructions regarding the interfacing to be a little complicated.

Thanks for this enjoyable tutorial, you did a really amazing job! I had a couple questions. 1. Is that as supportive as it looks? I'm here not because I've ever done history bounding/costuming, but because I'm absolutely fed up and done with modern bras. After breastfeeding two kids, my boobs have turned into sad droopy bags, and I need all the support I can get. I bought over 20 modern bras, and none of them work. Any that actually gives me some support kills my shoulders, and then the elastic stretches out and makes it useless in a month. . . 2. Does this work as a posture corrector? I need that too. I've had horrific posture to the point that it's interfering with my health (hunched posture causes bad shallow breathing patterns, which dangerously weakens the pelvic floor causing prolapse & incontinence). Anyway, I was thinking in the days before adult diapers surely not all post-childbirth women were suffering as much as we are now. I got to thinking that perhaps corsets were the answer, both to boob support and posture correction. I'm desperate enough to learn how to sew.

what kind of fabric did you use? was it just cotton? I'm wondering because other corset tutorials tell me to put coutil underneath to give it a little more strength but coutil is very expensive and I'd rather keep things simpler.

If I use boning, do I need interfacing?
@stephrodriguez222 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I just bought this pattern and some beautiful woodsy tapestry fabric, and wasn't entirely certain how to go about adding the boning. I've made ren faire garments before, but nothing yet that included boning, so this helps me immensely! ♥ Yours came out so beautiful!
@meggierock53072 жыл бұрын
Making it reversible is such a great idea and it turned out lovely! I'm trying this pattern currently, reversible with boning, but I ran into a bit of an issue when adding the boning channels. Although I had basted my lining and outer together pretty evenly, the lining fabric ended up bunching as I sewed the boning channels. I used iron-on interfacing applied to the outer fabric, so maybe that was part of the issue.
