It was the sunset that happened last night. There was an even more speccy one a few nights ago. But it's controlling the camera exposure that keeps enhancing the pic instead of letting it go naturally that I'm working on. New camera, new learnings 🤔

Was that a Former in laws house or inlaws former house? I haven’t been to Albany since the mid 90s. My family used to holiday down there quite often in the 70s as well as golden Bay just out of Mandurah. I remember Mandurah being a sleepy little village in the late sixties/early 70s but there has been too much development there. How is Albany these days? Is it still the quiet town as it was before?
@lauriekibblewhite6 күн бұрын
It's getting busier as the town grows. Mandurah is an extension of the city these days, whereas we are isolated from that mayhem down here. It's certainly ramped up since the 60s when I left town initially ( I was born in Perth and lived there until I was 13 and remember how easy life was in the city back then). I returned in 2010 and many changes had taken place down here. There are now 2 high schools and a university campus for example, also a couple of satellite shopping hubs. HNY mate. Cheers, Laurie

1980/81 for me, I think. An ex television big wig owned the pub near the mechanic's shed (Clancy's). The other pub would cash our pay cheques (often around 1400 dollars pp) so long as we bought a few beers... He'd be told by the oil search bosses when we were getting paid and He'd go to Longreach or Blackall and withdraw about 30 grand in cash so he could cover all the cheques. Fun days.

Greetings, I hope you had a good Christmas. I spent the day with my folks. Neat video, but I do love old trains. As for that one gas powered rig. Down in Colorado that have a few, and they are called the "Galloping Goose". Used to haul people and such between the small mountain towns. Not the safest of rigs for mountain work. Take care, stay safe.

Good morning James. I had dinner with my sisters family last night, spent most of the day watching the Boxing Day Cricket Test,and editing yet another video. Was a good day. There are two motorails in Queensland, The Gulflander, and the Savannahlander, which runs from Cairns to Forsayth, (470 kms) and takes 4 days return. Thanks for the lift into Albany Laurie. All new country to me. We lived about 35kms from the nearest town, Benalla. We'd catch the School bus into town when we were young, my father as well, who was a teacher, or pushbike it in. Always a pleasant trip home, retuning to peace and quiet, often a panicked drive in, meeting a train, or an appointment. Trees down along the 6kms of dirt road, or a mob of sheep would pump up the anxiety levels. Looks like a nice quiet area where you live. I could never live in Melbourne again. Too noisy and impersonal. Enjoy your Turkey, or Four 'n Twenty pie, whatever's on the menu for Christmas. 😀👍

Benalla, the home of Winton Raceway. My first solo trip was in 2004 in my XH Falcon Panel Van, and I camped at a caravan park as I recall, in a 2 man tent, and in the middle of the night a drop of rain hit my nose - I had decided not to put the fly on. Mad scrambling in the dark to correct that .... and it didn't rain. Next day the obligitory visit to Winton and on to Glenrowan. I can remember it as clear as ... well, I can remember it. 😅I love the country - spent 22 years in Perth. Apart from playing music, I was happy to leave the city. I hope you are enjoying your Christmas day mate.

Hi Laurie, Good to see Albany at Christmas. Your petrol is a lot cheaper than ours which is about 1.36gbp or 2.70aud. Lucky you! The music in the video tends to dominate and distracts from your commentary. Is there any way you can lower the music when speaking and raise it again when not? Sorry to be picky but I know you value feedback. Hope you got my email. Merry Christmas! Jan 🎄🎉

Hi Jan, yep, got your email. Just watched it back on the Tube, and the music is ducking, and I can hear the talking bit clearly - in the first half. The night bit was really just banter, and I could hear that ok as well, but then I knew what was being said of course. Granted, the music was a tad loud, but it sounds better thanb my voice anyway 😁. What I did notice is, that it was supposed to be 4K and it's only HD. Gotta check that out. Merry Christmas to you and Guy. Laurie.

Thanks Laurie. Looks like another iconic Aussie pub. I guess the B&S fraternity make the most of it. Stubby holders and bumper stickers displaying the name sell well no doubt. I must say, their commitment to serving good food impresses me, and although I've given up trying to drink, a bottle of 'Rough as Guts' on the shelf would look good. The Ozone hotel in Portarlington, Vic, has, or had, 'F***ing Good Port' without the asterixes, for sale years ago. I had a bottle, emptied of course. The Conargo hotel in SW NSW must do a roaring trade on bumper stickers, every Ute seems to have one. I'm glad there's a Nindigully pub, for all the Nindigullians 'roundabout. Cheers, and all the best, etc. 😀👍

@@lauriekibblewhitesome interesting victuals on that menu Laurie, and I'm sure well worth it, especially considering the locality. The Porepunkah Hotel in NE Victoria used to have a great seafood night on Fridays. Crayfish, Balmain Bugs, prawns by the hundreds, great fish. The owner had it delivered direct from Melbourne, hundreds of miles South. It was popular. Porepunkah is close to Mt Hotham and Falls Creek ski resorts, as well as the now defunct Mt Buffalo resort. That's why the pub was chokkas on Friday nights. I'd stop at Nindigully. Looks like a carnivores delight. 🥩🍔🥪🍟👍

They used to have a Boans shop in the old Innaloo complex so the joke was, what is the definition of a skeleton in a toilet - Boans Innaloo. So instead of renaming it, Woodlands cinema, they rezoned Innaloo and took a chunk of my childhood suburb Woodlands
