WERRIS CREEK 2013

I drove through Werris Creek on a Saturday afternoon, and didn't stop. Now, 11 years later, as I research this video, I wish I had.

My Father worked for the USDA for 20+ years. And one of the people he worked with, was researching Strip Mine reclamation. Oh, how to put it back to something useful. So in Wyoming at least, when a strip mine is close, the mining company has to make it look pretty. It will never go back to being what it once was. Some have even been turned into lakes. I hope that was done to that strip mine you show in this video.

G'day James. The photo was taken from Google Earth, so should be recent. Mining companies are supposed to rehabilitate the area when they have finished with it. There area number of lakes around Oz that are disused open cut mines.
