What would you choose between a Bach 37 from 70s and a Super Olds ?
@trumpetadam2 ай бұрын
It depends what sort of playing you’re doing. The Bach 37 is prob the best all round instrument on the market. I’m a huge olds fan so would say do try both and decide which is the best fit for you.

Ever try a Lotus turbowood? And also.. what advice would you give to someone who can hit a double G but it sounds like a squeak. How do you get it to go from squeak to laser beam? I’ve only picked up trumpet again for about a month after 15 yrs not playing. I missed it more than I realized and want to learn PROPER tech.
@trumpetadam3 ай бұрын
No, I’ve not tried Lotus mouthpieces. Always interested in trying new stuff though! I’d say if you’re squeaking in the upper register then you’re pinching somewhere.. chops, throat or airflow. Try analysing where that may be and focus on relaxing that area. We are our own best teachers!
@tonkajahari30103 ай бұрын
Ok.. I just picked up a trumpet again after not playing for 15yrs. Maybe a month and a half in now. I have a coach and he’s taught me a completely diff technique for high notes and I’m currently reprogramming bad habits and rebuilding my chops. If you had to advise: how would you describe the diff between hitting a high note (let’s say an E above the staff or above) and it sounding squeaky versus it sounding like a perfectly clean laser beam like yours did? Because I’ve been able to reach some crazy doubles, but they’re more of a squeal than anything you’d be able to perform in a pro setting. Coach says less air. Which is so counter intuitive to what I once thought was how to do it.. but I’m Alrdy playing higher than I ever did after 10yrs of practice as a young man, so he’s gotta be onto something. And he can play a double C like it’s nothing. 🤣 But I’m curious as to your take.
@trumpetadamАй бұрын
I’d say to read books, listen to players and listen to podcasts and KZbin interviews of great players. Bobby Shew told me many years ago that we are our own best teachers… I think he’s right. For me, I certainly don’t require MORE air, we know how to breathe. It’s about learning where and how to compress the air! That is trial and error. The tongue plays a big part. I’d say if you are getting results with your teacher then keep going but ask questions. If you can hit the notes then you can hit them… keep doing that and it will come with a stronger sound I’m sure! Good luck with your journey

Hello, seeking your advice please. If you could choose 1 trumpet from the following and they we're all the same price and condition which would you buy? BESSON INTERNATIONAL by KANSTUL BACH STRADIVARIUS 37 Yamaha YTR-736 Yamaha YTR-6335 I should also mention, I have the opportunity to purchase one, however, "unplayed" due to being such a distance from them all. To be played at military funerals and special events (Australia) and for personal pleasure and then one day pass onto my children.

Hi Don, it’s a good list and all are good instruments, but personally I’d go for the Bach Strad 37. A great all round trumpet that has set the bar for others. It will fit the bill perfectly in my opinion. All the best. Adam
