What a great video and thank you for sharing. Honestly the early 2000s seemed like the pinnacle for all trucks and tractors. I would love to get a quadrasteer! I'm thinking a quadrasteer with a 5.9L Cummins would be a great conversion.

Well guys, "soon" quickly turned into "right now" and I HAVE to do this swap. My 4l60e lost third gear in my 1990 c1500. I think I will go with a remanufactured 2WD NV3500 from Midwest Transmissions. I emailed them yesterday about gearing and the clutch / flywheel. I can get a new Dorman manual transmission driveshaft. I have my donor 1990 k1500 for the clutch and brake pedal, but it looks like I can buy a set fairly cheap too. Did you guys remove the dash to install the clutch pedal support bracket from your donor truck? Or were you able to snake it up in there without all that? The video didn't say or show. I know I'll have to pry the bracket out of my donor truck by removing that dash, like you all did. Thank you guys again for this series, I may ask some more questions soon, but I'm committed now, not just curious. Looks I will have less wiring to do, mine being a 2WD. I may leave the cruise control for later when I swap steering columns (I'll make it a separate project).

I have 2005 1500HD. I wanted one for years. Found one used during Covid. Market inflation added 3k on to what I paid. I bought it and it’s been the best truck I’ve owned. I’ve had it for three years, mine has 4.10s with the Bose speakers as well. I love the idea of putting in the bench seats. Just hit 173k miles and still running strong!

Commenting in this 1 year later. Here’s a tip that might help other owners. If Rivian provides you a rental as a service loaner from your local Enterprise near your home or nearby the area where your R1 broke down highway, and you’re far from the service center, insist you return the rental to Rivian as a 1-way rental, then they can figure out how to return it to enterprise.

Bought my 2005 Silverado Quadrasteer in 2009 and still have it to this day. Great truck! The engines are pretty much bulletproof and the Delphi QS system is solid! Great to see peoples reaction when you’re backing out of somewhere and they’re behind you lol. I’ll never get rid of this truck.

This is by far the best video I’ve found on loading this machine. I’ve only had my machine about a month and, like you, I searched KZbin high and low for a simple video showing how to load your quilt. I’m so glad I found your video! I love how you explain everything as you go and take your time to allow viewers to actually see the process. I do have a question, though. I notice when you’re basting your quilt you don’t do needle down and needle up to raise your bobbin thread, or maybe you did and I just missed it. If you don’t, do you just take off sewing like on a regular sewing machine? Also, I see you use your thread cutter. Have you had any problem with your bobbin thread being cut too short to continue sewing? I hope I make sense. Thanks!
@PureJoyFarms6 ай бұрын
Thank you! To answer your question, I usually can just take off and sew without pulling up the bobbin thread. It doesn’t always work in the baste mode, so often I will do a couple of stitches in the precise mode to get started, and then switch to baste and keep going. Hope that makes sense!
@sherryslone35865 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for the tip of starting on precise and then switching to baste in order to bring your bobbin thread to the top. I do this now and it has worked each time. 😄

How long did it take for your sheep to get used to be milked? We have 3 Icelandic ewes, two of which have lambed now and one more expecting soon. I would like to start attempting to milk them but am worried at how they will respond. They already are extremely wary of us. We got them just last summer and over the winter we were able to finally get two of the 3 ewes to eat grain from our hand. The one who won't come near us still is the one that we tried to milk when we first got her because she had just been separated from her lambs when we brought her home. Ever since then she is the wariest of them all. How do you keep your sheep from being afraid of you?

It’s too bad you had these issues with your R1S, they should not have happened and I can understand how frustrating it was for you. I have an R1T which had noisy half-shafts and Rivian replaced both of them with new updated ones, and now they are absolutely silent. I have had nothing but stellar service from Rivian even though the service center is a bit of a drive for me. My car is an incredible machine which I charge from the solar panels on my home, a very poetic experience! In my opinion, it’s unfortunate, that you’ve switched back to a massive ICE vehicle which is a polluting gas guzzler. The Rivian is not only more economical in the long run, as you mentioned, it also has a much smaller carbon footprint than the ICE tank, which unfortunately for many, is never a consideration. Down the line, if you were to give another Rivian EV (or other brand) a chance, I bet you would have a more positive experience.

If I wanted to use an icelandic sheep for my homestead dairy, what are your thoughts on their milk production for a family of 8? The milk would be for consumption, not soap. What about their temperment with children?
@PureJoyFarms7 ай бұрын
If it would be your sole milk supply, you would need a handful of sheep. You would have to have them lamb one time, and then keep them milking through the year, and likely need to let them have a dry period to lamb again in the spring to ramp up supply.
@PureJoyFarms7 ай бұрын
They are very easy to get along with. We have had Icelandic sheep with our young children, and have never been a concern.

Those sheep live and sleep out doors without human herders. They eat choices of natural grass, never eat any grains or other supplements.

Hi. Another fellow Minnesotan here (and in the cities!). I appreciate you putting out these videos as well. I'm finding there is very little information out there about these machines. I used to own a Handiquilter and am now looking at this Jukie longarm. So any content you can upload on operating the machine would be greatly appreciated. I have a question on the frame. Is it a Juki frame or is it a grace frame? The juki website doesn't give me that information, and how sturdy is it? Does it have the ability to attach the quilt top to a take-up roller or just float it? Thanks.
@PureJoyFarms7 ай бұрын
I'm so sorry I missed this comment! It is a Juki frame, and is an extremely sturdy metal frame. Yes, you could attach it to a take-up roller if you'd prefer.

10 months ago but it's obvious it takes a certain type of person to own this car. You are so forgiving and level headed. This is not normal or acceptable to most people. One day will be ready for general consumption. As of now they should require a psych test to make sure the purchasing party can handle the ownership experience.

LoL, I was just looking at a red 2008 on Facebarf asking way too much, perfect car yada yada, last word, goes in reverse has issues forward. Not having a magic wand to put a silver body on the old wheels. I shall un-favorite the 2008 for way too much and go follow the 2010 MKX at a local impound auction until it comes on the block this next week.

Do you recall if that whining noise (for lack of a better term) on the highway was motor / drivetrain noise, or probably noise from A/T tires? It seemed to be speed dependent.

I think you are referring to the wind noise from the driver window. That was Speed dependent and never was resolved.

I get the trade, we have a Yukon 3.0 diesel. I have an f150 Lightning as my car and we love having an EV and an ice suv. I’d like to look at Rivian in the future , but they need to fix some of their issues mostly related to being a new OEM. My Lighting as had zero issues in the one year ownership. Sorry you had to let the Rivian go.. hope you didn’t take a bath on it especially with the suburban being a slightly less MSRP.

Good luck with your Suburban. I went from a 2016 Suburban to a Rivian R1S and it has been great. Thule rooftop box replaced the bit of extra space I lost. I couldn't have been happier to get rid of my suburban. By 95,000 mi I had put more than $20,000 in non-warranty repairs into it including a new transmission and AC condenser. I'll never own another GM product after that awful experience. Rivian is is working out some kinks in service but in my experience since June they have made huge leaps in improving that and I expect that to continue.
