I’ve just tried these on .. must admit they look great in flesh and feel quality .. I agree that the price jump is huge .. but all seikos are creeping up in price.. and look at the 62 mas they are around 1200 retail .. prices going through roof can now be seen across most brands .. I bought a tissot visodate automatic in 2019 at full retail which was £340 .. they are now £640 for the new versions .. thats nearly a 100 % price increase in 5 years .. I remember trying on an omega speedmaster in 2012 and it was £2350 new .. they are now around £6500 … shocking but it’s how they are all going I’m afraid . They’re all putting prices up .. on a positive note like I said earlier I tried these on and they look ace .. I’m definitely getting one

Good insight thanks. Interesting to get real world figures for the Omega back in 2012, a bargain by todays standards. Should've got one then! I think Seiko get it spot on with their designs and you've obviously been impressed. The problem is I'm still not sure £340 should be the entry price now. That was what the Seiko 5 represented

Just come across your channel. 58 years old and just started collecting 70's Seikos.Dont care about the lume or water resistance anymore I have other watches for that.Love the shape of the cases and those square raised indices they did then.Also the faceted Crystals with different coloured sunburst dials are so different and beautiful.Actus and LM are my favourites.Also the bracelets although flimsy by modern standards are often very intricate works of art.Always on Chrono 24 looking for a bargain. Enjoying your videos.👍

That's a coincidence. I bought the same Swiss Army Knife in the early 80s as well. Still got it and I can vouch for their warranty as I had a couple of minor repairs carried out at no cost last year. With regard to the longevity of Seiko watches, I inherited an early 70s Seiko 5 Actus from my dad. A service and a new band and it's running like a charm, I'm wearing it as often as I can. Keep up the good work!

Brilliant video and great to see the collection develop. A brief update on the Grand Seiko after just shy four months ownership. Running like a dream at just 0.25 of a second fast over three months which is quite incredible and way over spec of 10 seconds per year. The quality of the polishing of the silver handset and indices against the jet black dial make it the most legible watch in my collection. It convinced me to sell all my mechanicals and go 100% quartz with the Grand Seiko Sea of Clouds SBGP017 and Casiotron TRN50 to round off a 3 watch collection.
@perfectwrist2324 күн бұрын
Wow! That's interesting and thanks for the update. Brilliant to know its in a good home being cared for. I think I know the sea of clouds range . There's a few options . I do browse Grand Seiko, it was the vintage gold Omega that replaced it by the way

I felt the same way when I bought an SKX007 a couple of years ago. A bit underwhelmed and think that others are better value or built like the Citizen NY0040. I have the Citizen NB1050 and think that it's a great watch and already better specs than the SARB033. I can appreciate it for what it was back then, but still can't understand the hype to this day. I think part of the disappointment that you felt is how far along you are in your watch collecting journey. If you got this earlier and you were new to watch collecting this will hold much value and happiness. It represents to me as an owner of one, a time when saphire, great size/fit and finishing was unheard of at the time it was released. If you compare it now to some new releases it will definitely disappoint, it can even be beaten by some alliexpress watch
