Mahalo! I am happy my work helps you. There is a book called Going For Broke: travelogs on becoming a Buddhist Monk. I think you will like it if you want to become a monk. I'm quite busy, but I hope to make more videos and content for the americanmonk.org website.

Here, Bhante, you're reciprocating to a junior monk respecting, and since he's grammatically considered to be 'a second person' (majjhima purisa) eg. your interlocutor, so he should be addressed as Avuso, and should be blessed as 'sukhito hohi'.(not hotu).
@BhanteSubhuti2 ай бұрын
The video is explaining the Sri Lankan (Galduwa) Tradition of greeting each other.We all like it, especially the junior monks. It is part of the monk life that I share. As for pali.. yes.. it is often hotu. Perhaps i will ask my abhivamsa pali teacher why we do this across the board. We also use hotu when we say may all beings be happy.
@BhanteSubhuti2 ай бұрын
Actually, I copied from the chanting book and the senior monk is often saying to a group. So the written form is hontu on the screen. But I said, "sukhi hotu" while speaking.

Wundamie Bhante 🙏 May I please request sutta interpretation on the Sacekka Sutta ( i hope that is the correct spelling). In Burmese, this sutta is commonly referred to as 6x6 sutta. When i listed to the talk given by the late Tippitaka Mingun sayadaw,i found it was the most profound. I understood this stutta as where the Buddha explained the model framework of life. Interested to know your thoughts. Sadu sadu sadu 🙏

I will look into it. I'm not much of a scholar, but I will look into it and see what is possible or if it is suitable for me to talk about. Anything Ven. Mingun Sayadaw does would be light years ahead of what I can do. The best I could do is "dumb it down" for others.

Dear Bhante. I feel a bit sad that you have to spend 4 hours to get your meal. Is there a possibility for me to move somwhere closer to your temple to cook for you, so that you have more time for meditation and other spiritual activities? Maya🙏

Awe.. that is so kind of you! That was when I was in Kaua'i, Hawai'i. It was my thing to go for alms in the West. I affected a lot of people by doing this. It was a lot of work, but it reached very far. That time also included eating in the village. Alms in Sri Lanka takes about 1.5 hours. A lot of the time is waiting and giving blessings. The distance is not very far. Anytime I want, I can simply eat the monastery food here at IIT. As I said, we have a professional chef with the special coat with the buttons, etc. If I live in America, that is a different story. Aloha and Mahalo!

Why are the eyebrows not shaven ?
@BhanteSubhuti3 ай бұрын
@@bogdanarmeanca5844 a better question is why does Thailand shave eyebrows while the other nonthai traditiona do not. Where does it say in the vinaya that one should shave eyebrows? The answer is the king of Thailand told all monks to shave the eyebrows in order to know who were Myanmar spies . This tradition continues today .
