Unrecreatable atmosphere, humor and master class soundtrack, great game.

This is still my favorite game in the franchise, but it is refreshing to hear a different opinion. Good video

People are quick to write the game off as dated, I think they're ignorant, the first game is still fun and works well.

Im a year and some change late, but I just played this game a few days ago and the thugs for less leader boss fight is actually really simple, but long. You just use the 9 turrets around the area and when the mines get close to you just hop off the turret and rinse and repeat.

i really played the jak games backwards 😂😂😂 when i first got a ps2 i was allowed to choose 1 game and my sister got to aswell she picked scooby doo but they didnt have that and she got the sims, i picked ratchet and clank because it was tue same people that made spyro, toys r us messed up and gave us jak 2 so that was the first ps2 game i played. only got 2 days before we swapped it for ratchet because my mum didnt like how crude it was 😂 only got to the 3rd mission anyways then in 2004 jak 3 became the first game i bought with my own money i finished it then finally found out about jak and daxter in like 2010 after playing 2 and 3 for years when a friend of mine had it, couldnt believe how different the first one was because i played 2 and 3 first

im going to say this isnt a spoiler because well these games are 20 years old 😂 but i kinda wish i was good at jak 2 because i beat 3 before 2... so all the huge plot points meant almpst nothing to me like jak being the kid and sig's death knowing he was fine just in the desert

14:50 I always thought Daxter expected it to be a communication device so they could talk with Damas or Kleiver, so when nobody spoke after Jak pressed the button he thought it was broken.

8:20 It also gives your attacks greater range too, which can definitely be helpful when used with spin kicks or downward bashes.

Honestly I put RAC down and never looked back after seeing deadlocked when it came out. Just felt like a rushed game for a cash grab. RAC but no clank, and only a battle arena for gameplay. LIKE BRUH, who else wanted RAC4 not Ratchet the Gladiator? I get it, its half of the other games, but the lack of scenery/exploration is just lame. Arenas were good for getting bolts. THATS IT. Bolts and items. Sure upgrading guns too, but really its just a way more fun way of getting bolts then replaying levels with the most crates. The arena was sick because it helped give rac more of an open world vibe. If i was short on bolts when a new gun came to the vendor i could jet off to the arena. In gladiator, its like oh wait i guess il just keep doing what ive been doing to get that extra 10k i need. I am trapped in an arena. Resulting in the worlds most linear gameplay ever no? If they game woudve been half the price as the othrs on release maybe itd have been okay, but i still probably wouldn't have played it. In my favorite action/adventure games i really like getting from point A to point B. Not just a game where point A is it, and they just bump up difficulty of the arena. I get that arena is just core ratchet combat but does it not feel a bit like this sequel is more of a giant mini-game vs an actual RAC title? Also after watching other rac reviews to decide if i should get a ps5, i decided to instead whip-out my old ps2 slim, that plays rac 1-2-and 3, perfectly, no motion blur (ps3 and4), and bought a hard copy of rac3 (the one i somehow lost). If the new game(s) comes out on pc il buy it, but honestly every console since the 360 hasn't actually improved in any way shape or form, besides getting BIGGER and more EXPENSIVE. No way im buying a ps5 for a soulless remake of a game that was better 20 years ago, and runs perfectly on a console i still have from 15+ years ago. This is why most triple A games today are often garbanzo. 20 years and a dozen rac titles later. I have yet to see anything that resembles RAC4...... Rift aparts game-play might be there, but you might as well change the names of ratchet and clank to hamlet and skank. So at 26 years of age now, crossing my fingers that insomniac might get one right in the next 20 years. Literally so many consecutive disappointments, I gave up hope in a good RAC game ever releasing again a long time ago. How are the FIRST 3 games better that the 10 that came after it... Insomniac needs to understand my kids 10-15 years from now will play rac 1-2 and 3. And the rest of the current franchise can stay 'deadlocked' away for eternity. Cmon now the inferno powerup was so fun in the arena. Idk how many times i was 1 hp or out of ammo and then the announcer says, "DID SOMEBODY SAY INFERNO!!!????" Then flip dodging my way over the mega turret beam, smashing open that crate and proceeding to go terminator mode because i gotta kill as many enemies as possible before the powerup goes away...... Also the whip yo. If you didnt know, you can throw that bitch. Something about throwing a blue whip around while backflipping over enemies is about as sick as it gets. Catch me using the blitz cannon, the whip, and the disc blade gun. All other guns besides the sniper are just to conserve ammo for me boys. Lava gun was cool too, was this referred to as the piss cannon by anyone else. When i was growing up if i asked a buddy if they had the piss gun they would know what i was talking about.

While Going Commando will forever be my favorite, I can't tell you how many times I replayed Deadlocked. Maybe even my most played game of all time. I absolutely loved not only the gameplay challenges but being able to challenge myself with ludicrous alpha/omega combos during missions.

the dark makers were kind of a smart explanation for why the precursors exist, tbh. not the best execution tho. what bugs me the most about the game is the overly grim atmosphere, the seemingly unfinished bits (like the large desert that has fuck all to do in it) and the unfun minigames.

Just a fun fact: the hovering twin platforms in the Lost Precursor City did not originate from Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. From my knowledge, the first game to implement these kinds of platforms was Gex: Enter the Gecko on PS1 three years prior. They were used a couple of times in the Rezopolis level at the end of the game. One year later, Gex 3 would use them again in the Anime Channel.

Having replayed 2 & 3, I definitely felt that Sly 3 was a bit of a downgrade in a lot of the same ways you mentioned. But another major reason to me is the general presentation feels less clean. The Job Complete screen is super bland in comparison to 2, there’s no reason to explore the worlds with the lack of clue bottles and treasures, and the worlds we travel to feel far less memorable than the ones in 2. Not to mention the pirate world gave me scurvy

Yes a great game, but...I was never a big fan of Erol being the main villain. I would have preferred if they brought back Gol and Maia to team up with the Dark Makers. Two Sages who studied Dark Eco would have made more sense. Not some guy you race twice in the second game. They even teased their possible survival at the end of Jak and Daxter.

After playing the first three games first time last year, this one was by far my favorite, I honestly think it is a good game, only downside I found is the final boss, the thug boss and those annoying yetis but that really doesn't bring the game down overall.

For sure is a good game Sure gameplay aged poorly but it is still fun Story is very good Bosses were ok First one is good introduction to bosses I guess Second one is ok Qwark is mid as a boss but he was difficult which I like And then drek - he was very good imo I liked the creativity in his bossfight First we fight as clank then ratchet and then during the fight we have to deactivate the deplanetizer many times which is climactic storywise and challenging gameplay wise And the ending-beautiful Weapons are the weaksest part of the game for me but still good I only bought blaster pyrocitor, walloper, rocket launcher visitbomb and tesla claw I also Bought 2 nanotechs and in the end I had 50k bolts which is crazy cause in oltanis(after I bought 2 nanotechs) I bought tesla claw and I had 500 bolts and it went to 50k and the end Also in the second playthrough The gold weapons upgrades are very cool additions But you cant upgrade weapons which is a shame And cause of that for 80% I used my wrench instead of weapons for extra challenge I beaten this game today Which is why I knew all stuff(like bolt counter) Oh yea drek as a villain He is basic but a good villain(unlike the remake) He feels like a threat,he has a personal connection to ratchet via veldin And I like how he is tied to the theme of the game- capitalism materialism and etc This game is 7/10 for me -a good game Not higher cause gameplay is klunky
