I thought that first scene with her in bed and money on the nightstand could not have been more obvious. Especially since we later see her sleeping on the floor in her own apartment. Apparently that was more subtle than I thought. Dandadan will take you through every emotion. This isn't the last time. And it will make sense. Acrobatic Silky is based on the urban legend Akuserasera / Acrobatic Sara Sara (“Sera-Sera” an onomatopoeia for “Hair Swish”) which is a tall, lanky woman dressed in red with A wide-brimmed hat with long hair underneath it, has black holes for eyes, a smile that is from ear to ear, & does not wear any shoes. It is said that she dances on top of tall buildings leaping from them like an acrobat then landing on to the ground while vanishing or that she will go in and out of areas with heavy traffic causing accidents. She also seems to be based on various female youkai like with her tall stature while wearing a hat & white dress is from Hachishaku-sama (8 Feet Tall Woman) which is known to terrorize children, with her mouth reminds me of the Kuchisake-onna (Slit-Mouth Woman) who comes behind you with a mask & a red dress then asks if she is beautiful if you say “Yes or No” then she will either slit your mouth or try to kill you, & with her controlling her hair is like Kejōrō or the Hari-onago which are both women with long hair that they use as a weapon

I’m glad you looked up the manga chapter when you streamed this because both versions - the manga original and this anime adaptation - did something incredibly special. This series is really unlike any other and science saru deserves their flowers on this one. The use of perspective and sound? Living rent free in my head rn

Really tragic

Doesn’t excuse her actions but definitely makes it understandable. However she is still an evil creature who was very much ok with kidnapping girls and killing whoever stopped her if it meant she could have someone who called her mommy

For those who don’t understand. Silky was a poor woman with a 5 year old. She was either a prostitute or would pimp herself out for money she would later have to pay back. She would put the money for her debt in an envelope. Since her and her daughter loved acrobatics she used someone the money to buy her daughter an expensive dress. Obviously when the guys came to collect their money she didn’t have it. They beat tf out of out of silky took her child. Silky goes into a high up roof and dances one last time in honor of her child and jumps off of the roof, ending her life. It’s that her child is either killed no too long after or is killed after she is sold off. Silky becomes a wondering spirit looking for something but not knowing what until Aria reminds her that she had a daughter. However she thinks that this daughter is Aria and becomes attached to her. Obviously as she becomes a Yokai she become more and more evil as she was willing to forget Aria and take Momo instead.

This episode got me all sad
