Thanks for your video on the winter driving with a Smart EV. Your explanation makes a lot of sense. 👍
@pandasoca3016 Жыл бұрын
So good to see your videos. Which year is yours? I just got a 2014 smart electric myself and I am pleasantly surprised by how nice it drives. I believe there is only a handful of these in Canada. My city Edmonton gets really cold (-35 c) in winter so I won’t be using it for those 2, 3 months. But other than that it will be hopping around in my city. 😊

First , congrats on the way you present things, i love your videos. Considering you live in cold climate, you may answer my question best. I just bought c zero 3 days ago (my first ec) mainly encouraged by ypur vids. It was 10C outside and i turned full heating to see how it works. I was driving about 3 mins, and didnt feel a thing getting hotter. I tried ac on and off, full blower or medium, but still, on full hot on the upper knot, i did not feel any hot air coming after 3 mins of driving. Is this normal, or how long its usual the heating to kick in ? Best regards , and thank you in advance for your answer

Efficient EVs are the ones to get. Big E-SUVs using 200Wh or more per km are crap to drive around now with expensive electricity. I drive a similar size EV and I spend very little on charging.

Hmm I've been thinking about getting an EV for some time now, these past few years a lot of charging stations around everywhere, even the small grocery store next to my house has a fast charging station. Currently I drive a toyota yaris that uses ~7L/100km and with current gas prices that's 18 euros, not to mention other maintenance costs. Anyways, this car is the cheapest EV on the used market at the moment, in my country anyways, for around 8K and the next one would be a volkswagen e-up at arounf 17K, but that's way too expensive for me. There is the nissan leaf at around 10-13K, but that is a much bigger car and its range is worse than the imiev. 90% of my driving is commuting to work and back, 20km to work and 20km back, so this could work for me. Then again these are 10 year old EVs with old batteries, so I wonder how long are they good for before needing to be replaced, and I'm guessing that won't be cheap. But then again the ones I'm looking at still retain a good amount of charge even for models like 2011 and 2012, so I guess the battery does last a while? Another thing I wonder, is how well would it fare in cold weather? I live in finland and in the winter it can get as cold as -20C (or lower).

Hei! Takk!
@pascaluber86233 жыл бұрын

It's a great little city car. As you said. very practical. Tons of space for hauling stuff in the back, plenty of room inside and yet very compact o the outside, great visibility, .... a really, really, well done small city car. BUT the replacement battery is expensive as hell. 18,000 eur for Peugeot iOn or something like that. And you will need to replace the battery, sooner or later.

Takk.
@pascaluber86233 жыл бұрын
Maks ladeeffekt = 7,2 kW, 32A. Maks ladehastighet 35-50 km per ladetime. Den vil da teoretisk kunne lade fra tomt til fullt batteri på under 3,5 timer på semilader 22 kwh med medbrakt kabel, ellers kan du bruke Lle type 2 plugg, bare du må huske at din bil ta max in 7,6 kw per time og minst 2,6 kw per time på en vanlig stikk.

I agree with your thoughts on the iMiev. On balance, a great vehicle. I have a 2012 model with the improved cells in regional Australia. Excellent vehicle for the work commute and even side work like food delivery. I am sure the cost reductions for batteries and growing business expertise will lead to a battery and AC kW charging upgrade path independent of the manufacturer. With around 30kWh usable I would be comfortable driving the car on a road trip.

I have had one for eight years. Battery packed in at 16,000 miles . Fortunately under guarantee. (A new battery = £7000/$10,000!) The underside is prone to rust so needs watching. Apart from that, a great car to drive. Very practical, especially as a second car for city driving. Poor range at any speed over 50mph.

Yes it does, the only poblem with the Imiev is the heating is bad and use 30% of the capacity ( 5kwh) I always preheat with a cupeeheater cheap one ( fan ) before starting, otherwice it takes too long to warm up, its realy only a problem when subzero, but here in Stavanger its no problem, In Sirdal it was a bigger issue.
